Re: New WKY Monster Looks very cool! My only concern would be that the arms are perhaps a little too similar to the arms on Nathan J's Dreran (Fauna):
Re: New WKY Monster One hand has three claws and I'm not seeing teeth on them. But I do see what you mean. I doubt Nathan would have a problem with this, he's a pretty laid back and easy going guy.
Re: New WKY Monster Really like that it will come with the different objects, especially the Triforce. Wouldn't mind seeing some varying texture on the body. Looking good.
Re: New WKY Monster I like the concept, but it doesn't look as thought out as some of your other toys. For example, the texture on the body is dimpled, but then shifts to scales on the arms. It looks a bit disjointed, like you began to make scales on the arms, then decided to stop for the body. This could be because it's a work in progress, or you might have an awesome color scheme to take this into account. But right now, I don't think the design is as tight as some of your other toys. Also, I like the idea of changeable items that he can hold. Any chance you'll come up with an easy way to store them with the character? I hate having a) accessories just laying in front of a toy and no one notices the work that went into them or b) having to put accessories away with the header...again, and no one can see them. I have a similar problem with MonstreHero's Intergaladiator, where I want to display all the weapons, but only have two hands to put them in; the rest end up sitting in front, or in a drawer.
Re: New WKY Monster I love toy accessories (and skulls) so that is already a plus. I also like that you moved away from your typical face on this one---I like it, but having the same features on different characters (although an identifiable look) doesn't always work that well for me. Some of the characters you've created might look better with more of a close mouth... I agree with Onwi on the dimple/scale issue---more continuity there would help this figure come together more. The tri-claws hands are a nice touch---monstrous, yet familiar. Also, I like the bare-butt'n'boots look---gives it a humorous touch. Looking forward to seeing how you resolve the features on the head. Your work seems to be constantly improving, so keep it going!
Re: New WKY Monster I like it. I think maybe the eyes could project slightly more from the face while still retaining the domed head look you seem to be going for. I don't mind the dimples-into-scales bit, but it does seem a little bit like texture for texture's sake. It's still way cleaner than any of my sculpts it definitely shows a growth from your early figures.
Re: New WKY Monster I agree with uberboy, definitely an evolved WeKillYou sculpt. I think if you're going for that texture, either really push it, or pull it back some. Right now it's kind of inbetween and it sort of loses its effect. I'd also push the eyes a little bit more too. Make the scribed lines actual indentations with raised skin flaps or whatever. This a departure from your logo-faced guys, so I think you need to take that next step and really push the shit out of it. He's a really fun sculpt and idea though, and I love the interchangeable accessories (obviously I'm a sucker for it).
Re: New WKY Monster honestly texture makes the toy world go round for me think of buta no hana, marusan, anraku ansaku, they all use various textures on they're sculpts. this is an amazing leap forward into a much wider step into truly realizing a drawing in 3-D texture's make up the biggest difference between a drawing and a sculpt. what i'm saying is keep it up. only thing i would change is like some of the guys said the eyes would look better with some more dimension other then that do what you do.
Re: New WKY Monster hey hey i can see where people are coming from with the detail stuff, but i wanted this to look like a drawing i have in my sketch book. the charactor has a scaly arm and stippled body and wanted to try and make this come out in 3d form. the detail in the eyes will be in the paint (i hope!) with the next toy ill try and work in some of the texture advice you all have given me! there will only be a small amount of these made and then 2 other characters of somewhat similar nature
Re: New WKY Monster I really like the texture you have on the back of the head. Your getting better and better with each new sculpt. I would just like to it a little more smoothed and cleaned up the way Arbito has his. I think you will get there in time, so keep it up.
Wow, those clear dudes are sick. At first I wasn't feeling the painted arm, but it's grown on me. Love the shiny boots.
Please ignore my previous critiques about the inconsistent texture. Completed and painted, this guy is awesome. I want the orange one something fierce.
Grobold Vol. 2 comming this week: Pomegranate Party Lime Time Lemon Squirt Grape Vine Ocean Spray Grapefruit Squish
The new colors look great, I really like the use of the clear resin with some details painted. Nice contrast.
