I'm headed to Hawaii tomorrow, the big island. I was curious if anyone knew if there were any cool toy shops I should check out. I searched and couldn't really find anything.
go check out the volcano. I have been to the Big Island several times since 2005 and found no Japanese toys. If you go to Ohau, you will find some.
Hank, for a starving musician that makes t-shirts and buys a lot of very nice toys, you sure do vacation well.
never been to Hawaii but i know of toys n joys they have 2 locations, but it's more anime and video game related the addresses are on the front page of the website http://www.toysnjoys.com
Haha. Toy shops on the Big Island. That's a good one. The only cool vintage toy I ever found was part of an Arklon Black King... there are several decent antique stores in downtown Hilo (east side). You should hit up any garage sales you see... never know what the old folks have in their homes. I've heard Hawaii is the largest consumer of Spam by state. We are never without a can of it in the cupboard. That and Vienna Sausage. Mm-mmm.
Lucky! Always wanted to go and try the local food. Maybe set aside toys on this vacation and enjoy what the island has to offer. Have a safe trip!
You know I'm going to do that. Toy break on this vacation is definitely in order. Still going to bring one along though. I'll be on the Kona side for this trip. Pictures when I return. Thanks everyone! Ps, Kirkland, Alex is right.
Leilow might have a few toys, maybe medicom stuff like bearbricks and stuff. Cool clothing store though.
I lived in Hawaii in the 70's. Worked for E.K.Fernandez as a carny ride operator. Got to go from island to island sitting up the carnival, meeting all the locals. I was the only Haole on the staff. Me and 75 HUGE Samoans. Had the best time.
