    Finished resins on page 2.

Finally, in the Monstre Hero studios. Ball joints ready.
I'm glad to say The Executioner has been ball jointed and will be resinated soon.
I created Splurrt to make this figure. I have never put so much labor or heart into a project, so I am proud to present an update to Skullbrain.
I hope some of you dudes like it.

gotta love that gimp arm. looks nice, good character. i'd like to see it painted up.

did MH sculpt it for you or make the mold? or are you part of their group?

    Thanks guys.

Rich- I'm still counting on you to paint some up.

JCrazy. It will probably just depend on the version, how complex the paint is. It's chunky, much bigger than a regular fight fig. I'm going to try and keep them around $70

Uber- I sculpted it, I rely on MH for all my resin work. Sean actually put the ball joints in and Cliff is going to do the resin work.

the sculpting's the hard part. making the mold and pouring the plastic is so much fun. you aren't going to do that part? I know its the sculpt that ends up representing the artist, but the materials are fantastic to experiment with. I've been "painting by pouring" lately, mixing different types and colors of resin in different applications. It's also real convenient to be able to cast one-offs whenever you want.

Joeman, this toy is sweet and very professional looking. congrats

Love the fact you designed it with the joints in mind, and you chose the best guys for the job I must say! :D
Makes it fun to play with too!

    Re: Heads are gonna' roll.

Thanks Uber. I love to sculpt, I tried pouring resin once and it didn't go too well. I think it's just my living conditions- I'm in a little New York Apt, just don't have the space or ventilation. But sculpting is what I enjoy the most, so as long as I can do that. I've noticed the variety in your resins though and it's very cool, it would be be nice to be able to experiment off the top of my head.
Thanks Paul I'm honored to hear that coming from you.

    Thanks guys
I worked on this guy forever (My fault because when i started I really had no clue what i was doing and kind of learned while I went. Causing multiple resculpts of pretty much everything.) I sculpted with a 0 tolerance for imperfections. I can't tell you how many hours I logged with the steel wool. I feel it's pretty much 100% blemish free and the finish is as smooth and fine as any vinyl.

Also what's cool about these ball joints is that with a little muscle you can just pop the pieces on and off, which means you in the future you might see some releases with multiple head sculpts or arms.

I didn't know ball joints worked with resin, I would have assumed it didn't have enough give and was too breakable. Very cool. I love how well finished the sculpt is, you can definitely tell you had high personal standards compared to a lot of DIY sculpts I see. I hate toys that wear pants, but the withered arm and axe hand are great!

There are different resins - and it is also a bit heat sensitive too like vinyl (I have to thank Sean for that bit of info). The resins MH produce don't seem delicate at all. Strong sturdy stuff. Breaking has never been a concern. When I started this guy, I had originally planned on vinyl. But was talked into resin through conversations I had with other board members. Now I'm in love with the idea. I think it's going to be a really unique figure to have in a collection. I will go vinyl in the future though, I don't know if it will be under Splurrt. I kind of want to do a standard kaiju.

Anyway I couldn't really imagine this guy without pants. I had never really envisioned what his junk might look like, but I'm sure it's not something anyone would want to see. The pants and boots were actually inspired by one of my favorite figures - Gigantic Frankenstein.

I love how its so clean and finished. The arms really gives this figure allot of punch (no pun intended)

As Yuck said,, I too had the same thoughts about the resin. I'm very familiar with resin and it's just amazing how this figure pulls it of ball joint wise.

I think this figure would look incredible in vinyl so if you ever decide to do it, count on me to pick up a colorway or three. :D

Thanks Robert. I'm happy to hear all this positive feedback and I know there are going to be people who would pick one up if it were vinyl but will pass on the resin. If you have any vinyl connections please let me know. I'd definitely look into it.

But MH knows their stuff, their quality is exceptional and I think these are going to be really cool as resin. I'm actually really excited to experience the ball joints for myself.

I think the molding process is just as tricky as the sculpt especially when it has four pieces and ball joints. (mine has multiple parts and it was a I FART A LOT to mold up. Though I took a leaf out of arbitos book and used magnets for the joints).

Nice Joeman, cant wait to see a painted one!

I've never revealed the hood. a first release is nearing so I thought I'd post it up. BTW, we thickened up the ball joints quite a bit to address that concern.
    Next update- finished figures

    Re: Heads are gonna' roll.

Thanks guys. Right now it's taking me about half an hour to finish a hood, from cutting fabric to stitching it up. I'm hoping to cut my time as I become familiar with it. I'm glad you like the details, I actually stitch the two sides together flip it inside out, then restitch on the outside for additional strength and design, so that green you see around the eye is also around the entire seem. Who said 7th grade home ec pillow making never paid off.

Finished up the second head sculpt. I don't think any explanation is needed other than Axe +Hockey Mask = Axe Murderer

    Looking really nice Joe!

I think i like this one even more than the original head sculpt. The hair looks really cool, is the other side of his head mutated or is that exposed brains? :)

    Thanks Jared.
It's not brain, The mask is just fused with a deformed/burnt gnarly head. There's that larger patch of hair on the left side, and a smaller patch on the upper right, kind of hard to make out with the straight angle. The rest is just the grotesque head.
