Stussy then > Stussy now! Personally, since Mr S moved on it seems like just another faceless corporate brand cashing in on the youth $$$ and no longer really relevant. In the same way as British football now being 80% non British. Not racist . . . just not the game it once was.
I 100% agree with you Andy! It's definitely not the same, but on occasion Stussy-now still has some interesting collaborations that can't be totally bashed. The line-up on this is pretty awesome though, which is why I want to go! And I will be going...
I'm in LBC and I won't be going. But not because of the Stussy thing. It's Phantom Galleries that I don't like.
How about the Damien Hirst opening at Gagosian Gallery on the 12th?[/quote] Is this continuing the point about 'not being the game it once was'? . . . Animals in formaldehyyde > spots a spin paintings any day of the week!
i was thinking more about the 'faceless corporate' characterization, as Mr. Hirst did the first 5 spot paintings in 1988, and left the work to his assistants ever since. Can't wait!!
Meh, it was an alright event. The photos were awesome, but the people there were a bit annoying at times. I wonder how people got t-shirts... i'm hoping my connect went through and I was able to get one. I got the ___/100 zine though so I guess that's cool.
Ahah, it was my first time in Long Beach. Downtown LB is a lot nicer than our's! I would've rather gone to a toy show.
