I guess the third option would be "I'm rich, beyootch! No need to choose" but hopefully I'm not the olny one without that option. So how will you handle the holidays when it comes to toys?

I have to get a Cadaver Kid, Digler and the new Enma if that's before Christmas but then I am buying toys only for my kids. I just know something sweet is going to pop up on the BST and try to make me eat my words.

No offense, but I can't believe how many threads are about or contain references to how hard it is to buy luxury items (toys) or survive/make every day purchases.

I would hope that for most folks, as it is for me, the comments are a bit of an exaggeration. I don't actually spend all my money on toys but it certainly feels like it some times. I think even for non toy collectors Christmas is a time that people need to reign in spending so they can focus on the holidays. My children will have a good Christmas whether I buy toys for myself or not and I never spend money I need on toys.

@audio- I think sometimes, people in this hobby can tend to get in over their heads in their spending habits. It can be an expensive hobby, and there is definitely a "got to get everything" mentality that goes around. I know I've been guilty of both, but never to a great extent. I do alright for myself financially, but judging by some other folks "What I got in the Mail" posts, I'm making peanuts in comparison... but I'm not complaining about things.

That being said, on the topic at hand- I made my last purchase of the year, barring something unexpected and amazing popping up- like Mockbat arriving in 2011 or someone offering me a Marbled skullwing... then I'd find some money. But generally speaking I think I'm done for the year. ;)

Are you sure you're making peanuts or is it that a lot of people overextend themselves all of the time?
I'd tend to steer towards the latter option.

Well, this thread did not go as planned. I just thought it would be fun to discuss how collectors adjust for the holidays and what, if anything, would tempt them away from such resolutions. I really don't have any desire to speculate on other peoples financial situations. This can certainly be an expensive hobby but it's far from most grown up expenditures. Golf clubs are generally more expensive than toys.

Most people that buy golf clubs, though, probably don't feel the compulsion to buy the exact same set dozens of times over in a different colorway :D
