How do you display your vintage?
Finally! My display cases are finished and have been hung on the walls. The next part comes displaying the collection . Just curious, how do you display your vintage? My stuff is mainly vintage, buta, some western, and GID. Do you keep your vintage figures grouped separately from the neo toys, or do you mix them in freely? If you do keep your vintage as a separate group, how do you group them? Size? Color? Theme? Show? Any advice appreciated, and PHOTOS greatly appreciated! I would love to see your setup! :D

I tend to keep the vintage on separate shelves grouped larger in back to minis in front, but sort of keeping shows and characters grouped together. I have no qualms though about displaying say Marusan reissues like Ultraseven etc, M1 or Marmit with my vintage toys though (and do).

Like here is a good example of what I'm talking about (granted at some point you have to just fit what you can in lol):

    Amazing case Chris.

Grace, I find it easier having no method and let the madness take over by just shoving things where I can fit them.

Who has time to display toys? I am far too busy playing with mine, to even warrant a dedicated shelf.

Great displays guys. Grace, I think there is a backlogged list of us now who have been itching for years to see - even a portion of - your collection. I will probably need some warning though, so I can take a sufficient 'sedative/relaxant' before opening that thread.

Thanks for the advice and photos! I must say, after seeing Mark K's display in the "Bullmark + Marusan Collections" thread, I am rather intimidated! Stevie, I don't think you'll need a sedative. Just wish there was a creative way to display my handmade Uglydolls with the vinyl toys

Chris! Your toys are so shiny! I do like that grouping too. Anthony, that is hilarious!

Like Chris, I separated the vintage stuff from the new, for some reason my brain don't let me mixed the vintage and the new, ofcourse I have like a quarter of the @Lixx collection. But i think it´s time for a new shelf, need more space for the vintage kaiju and a complete level just for the Ninja Arashi villains and bootlegs.

Very lovely shelf, Roger. You have done excellently in your choice of figures, and collection in that time. The NA villains are definitely so great, and I am incredibly jealous especially of that giant one. Love the Jetter Mars too, what a great fella!! And adorable expression and very nice quality. A well-deserved place in the front row. :)

@ultrakaiju thank you Steve, I think that giant Majin Sai needs a partner to fight, but so far I have not been able to find one of his size. As you say, the best of the Jetters Mars is the expression; the eyes very similar to anime. When I have the special place for the Ninja Arashi I share a photo.
@Mr. Humphreys Grace you still owe us the photo of your collection.:D

Ok Roger, will do, as soon as I unpack! In the meantime, I just adopted this graily grail pair last night (both light and dark versions!)

That is a very delectable duo, Grace. Congratulations! I know these have been long hunted for, and I think you did very well to finally adopt a quite nice looking pair of that lovable ramen rascal. They will be very loved in your home, I am sure. On a side note, odd how different the colours are between the two photos, eh? You just got to love these pictures on auctions/websites/Mandarake/etc., that are so variable it leaves a whole lot up to chance (and often surprise) when you are actually opening the package.

I have been using these clear, hard-plastic risers that I bought on amazon. They were supposed to fit inside a detolf, but I think you need to build the detolf around them first, haha. They work well enough on top of a shelf, although they can slide around easily. Perhaps I will get some little rubber feet for them. Anyway, 2017 has been a banner year for expanding my vintage goji collection as displayed here.

Hardest part about displaying monsters in detolfs are the tails. The damn tails get you every time. I used to have to take a few off to make things fit (I'd tuck them under the risers).

@Lixx - For sure, I have tried it out, but I only like about three gojis per shelf due to the tails:

A bit of a minimal look compared to some of those stuffed shelves! ;)

With the quality of your pieces and the rare of some of them it’s more like a museum display. That blank blue Goji catch my attention, thanks for share your amazing Goji collection Mark!

You have such a beautiful collection of Gojis Mark! Have you thought about going to a plastic/plexiglass/acrylic shop, and asking them to build you a huge case? Perhaps a nice plexiglass case/box, that serves as a large coffee table, so that you can see them all together side by side, just like your photo? If you live in SF, there is TAP Plastics, 154 S Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94103. I bought two 6 ft. long, heavy glass wall shelves, and I would like to have a "fish tank" like cover, to encase the toys I put on the shelves. Just have to have my friend install the glass shelves first, before going to TAP to have the case constructed. If you are really tight on space, you can have a large case, and in the case, have them construct a linear bar with little hooks to hang the tails! :)

Well things are still moving sloooowly. I haven't been happy with plastic boxes or tubes for risers, because they move about and seem fiddly. Visited a plastic/acrylic/plexiglass store, and custom cutting risers are super expensive . Finally decided that I rather have stable, one piece riser rows, so my carpenter friend salvaged some redwood scraps from a huge deck he's installing, and is going to custom cut all of my shelf risers, for dinner at Hippie Thai (SF) :D. Does anyone know if raw redwood will affect vinyl toys over time?

@ultrakaiju Steve owed you a photo of the Tiger Seven in the place where he will share with the rest of his companions, and it seems to me he will be a worthy rival of the King Flasher with whom he could have great battles.
