Remind me the next time we'll both be in the same place and I'll bring you a handful of hardcore records. Nothing amazing just stuff I have doubles, triples or more of.
So what you threw away was so horrible the local record store would make you give them money to take it? 1. Chad Hensley 2. jebcrow 3. phantomfauna 4. Kevlo 5. pickleloaf 6.Lamm/Greasebat 7.Computerhair415 8. Coop 9. Winu 10. Hank 11. Lixx 12. jcat 13. Chris Kohler

I found a website that will trade used CD's for iPods / iPhones / iPads and I'm thinking about trading the majority of my CD's for an iPad in a couple months. My wife said, "but what will you pass down to your kids some day?" So I decided that it would be way cooler if I got all of my absolute favorite records on vinyl and passed those down. So I've been on a mission to pick up the all-time faves. I didn't have a turntable though, so I started looking for one in thrift stores and stuff. Just wanted to get something that would play the albums. My sister-in-law knew that I was looking, and she found one at a garage sale for $10. She picked it up for me, and when I got it home and opened it up, I decided to research it a little bit. Turns out it's a Technics SL-1600. Same model ended on eBay a few weeks back for just over $300. Pretty stoked on it. (Please excuse the western vinyl in this pic): Here's a SB-appropriate pic: One thing that's really awesome is that the first and second record from my old band have both been pressed in vinyl now, so it's pretty awesome to bust them out and put them on the turntable:

Alright since we have record collectors on here, if anyone has "Oceanic" by ISIS on opaque dark green or clear light green hit me up!
I love vinyl so much I have started a small record company www.lasthurrahrecords.com The first release is an LP of recordings from the '80s from a punk band called the Vomit Spots from Mobile, Alabama. Yes, I said Alabama. The next release will be a current band but more on that later. We are going to aim for 3 releases a year, vinyl only, limited edition run with fancy packaging and special gimmicks.
That's awesome, thanks! Yeah, I played bass (and did all the design) in Copeland from when we started the band until around a year after we put out Eat, Sleep, Repeat. Seems like lifetimes ago.
This board has a lot of lurking musicians from several genres. I think we're pretty lucky for this, so all lurking and non-lurking skullbrain musicians, we salute you.
Hell yeah Chad! Congratz on the record company. Im stoked to see that someone still believes in vinyl. I live in the bay and I have seen so many record stores close. Definitely keep the run's small. We are still sitting on 500 out of a thousand of our last run. Who's pressing your records?

I have some old 4AD stuff (Xymox, Dead Can Dance), Wax Trax (A Split Second, In the Nursery), Chris and Cosey, Current 93, Die Form, Konstruktivists, Limbo, a bunch of Ant-Zen/Spectre releases. What I need is lots of Coil on vinyl.

On thursdays it's all you can carry for $5. There are quite a few you wouldn't even take with that deal. I found a few Johnny Cash, old sountracks and my favorite, an All in the family record with just dialog from the show on it. Very weird to listen to.

i have that all in the family record too is it a pink cover with their portrait?? my collection is all over the shop...3/4's 12"s/Lps and 1/4 7"s 12"s/LPs = loads of early jungle/hardcore/breakbeat....early hiphop/rap...house...hardcore/punk...metal...60s-2000s pop...house...80s synth...smiths...grace jones... 7"s = mostly 60s-80s pop (japanese & brazilian pressings from my travels)...and lots of uk pressing 80s pop vinyl collecting is still alive in the UK,,you just have to look a bit harder,,,but the prices are going down for most things...
^^^ I love oddball thrift store flotsam like this... but my absolute favorites are "preachin' records." Some were pressed for an local event/guest speaker/etc.; often they are autographed w/ a personal inscription or Bible verse How often can you get something that cool for 25 cents?

ElvisFromHell I sold all my 7" several years ago (Henry Rollins even bought one from me on ebay - that guys spends a LOT on vinyl) and purged some less than key LP's last fall to pay some bills. So now I'd down to a very solid 500+ LP's - all killer, no filler (plus some 78's, and 10" LP's). I still buy new and vintage vinyl occasionally.
Not sure if I count as a "collector" definite buyer. I'm now in the camp that won't buy stuff on CD if its available on Vinyl instead. I've bought records my whole life growing up with punk rock. Most stuff was only available on 7" or LP in most cases. I stopped for over 10 years, but just started buying again recently. I have filled up several expedit cubes, but nothing major yet.
