    They speak!

I was actually expecting Gus to sic 'em on Jesse, not Hank, but being the very shrewd man he is, calculated that Hank is the greater threat. While Hank is probably too important of a character to dispense with just yet, something's gotta give. Hank's rightly on to Jesse, and Jesse continues to employ dunderheaded bozos. But is Jesse expendable? If anything, it seems that circumstances forced he and Walt back into each other's business, so to speak, so I doubt if he'll be offed anytime soon. All I know is that this most recent episode advanced things dramatically, plus we've got a new main character in the mix. No real clue what's in store for Jesse, but it's not looking so good right now.

Despite my fandom for the show, I've never actually been inspired to cook meth... however this week's episode did get me very curious in how to brew coffee like Walt's new assistance.

Sad to see the RV get pulverized.

You know that was probably the real RV. The cast and crew got to watch it get crushed. Must of been a hell of a day for them. They should show a few meth explosions so kidz don't get the wrong idea...

You can get a free video via iTunes for each episode in which cast and crew members discuss the associated episode. In the videocast for this episode, they explained that the crew bought a matching used RV for the crush scenes. The interior RV scenes are a set on a soundstage. If I recall correctly, many of the exterior shots are also done with a partial mock-up. There were three "RV's" used for the scenes at the junk lot.

The bit with the electrical tape over the bullet holes was an homage to a scene in the Coen Bros.' "Blood Simple." Allegedly there are other Coen Bros. nods in various episodes but I don't remember what they are.

Does anyone else think it's strange that the lab partner was even added to the BB mix?

Am I the only one who thinks that this nerdy gent was purposely placed by Senor Pollo to learn the formula, so he could cut Walt completely out of the meth wizardry?

    hmmm...
    That's what I'm going with.

Yeah I wondered about the lab guy. I also wondered about hiding a lab under a place 30 other workers work.

It's been great watching the morals of Walter and Jesse transposed. But last night's ending blew me away!
They were able to depict Walter still retaining some of his core values while at the same time utilizing his newfound ruthlessness all in one act.

I'm wondering, will the "Chicken" entrepreneur be replaced by the "Carwash" entrepreneur?

He also managed to pull off appearing loyal to both Gustavo and Jesse at the same time. Sort of.

This show's momentum is such an intense slow burn, with occasional flare-ups. I can't imagine how the writers can sustain this past one more season, but given their talent and cleverness, they probably will.

We also saw Jesse's concern for kids again ... there's something about that. For a guy who has decided that he's "the bad guy" and is so screwed up morally and ethically, the "don't mess with little kids" thing keeps coming up as a theme with Jesse. Maybe his paternal instinct is his most redeeming quality. Similar to the same paternal instinct that got Walt into his life's major mess, and that Gustavo used to psych Walt into compliance.

The episode also re-invoked the theme of not making mistakes twice without quite specifying which mistake is the one being repeated. Apparently lots of mistakes. Yikes!

The opening bit set to "Windy" was another pitch-perfect brilliant opening. I heart Breaking Bad!

Walter can certainly make the argument to Gustavo that his two "employees" were bad for business by drawing the media's attention. I gotta believe this is all foreshadowing for Walter to usurp Gustavo's meth empire.

I loved how Jessie just stood up to Gustavo and shook Walters inner being to get back on it's moral track by yelling, "Are you ok with this?!" You could see Walter fighting with it in his expression and body language...Bryan Cranston is just incredible.

You're right about Jessie...he's tormented for being a screw-up and not having a good relationship with his parents so kids have become a symbol for sanctity. Even when he covered for his younger brother and took the blame for the weed his parents found, you could see he didn't want his brother to lose what he lost, a family.

It's a great show on sooo many levels.

Just got through season 1 of this the other. Not sure how I feel about it yet. It does keep my interest with the thinking "these worlds will all collide badly eventually". Moving on to season 2 today...

Stick with it and I think you'll come to agree that it just keeps getting better. The show was great in the first season but really found its stride and depth in the second.

Jeez, I just learned that AMC still hasn't given the green light to a fourth season!

There's a good article about Aaron Paul at the New York Times that may or may not contain a spoiler about Jesse. I don't t think it'll surprise anyone ... we've all been wondering the same thing ... for how long will he survive?

Is this intentional misdirection or is it real?

We may know as of this coming Sunday. I'm assuming Jesse lives. We shall see!

    Seasons 1 and 2 grrreat.

    Season 3, a lil snoozy...

A whole episode about catching a fly? really?

Has anyone caught "Justified" ? Just heard it is based on an Elmore Leonard story. Plus it's got Shane from "The Shield".

I thought "The Fly" was one of the best episodes of the season. It was by far the most metaphorical and also the most psychological, dealing as it idid with the conflicts inside Walt's head. He seemed crazed for most of the episode. I wasn't even sure that the fly existed until Jesse saw it too, but Jesse recognized what was really going on and schemed accordingly. Although he was annoyed by Walt's temporary madness and refusal to start cooking, he cared enough about Walt to subvert the train of obsession that had overtaken him.

That fly wasn't just a fly. It was an object of obsession, something always out of reach, something that could get a person killed if they tried too hard to kill it. Something probably better left alone and not worried about ... or was it? Was it actually the potentially polluting factor that Walt saw it as? Pesky little bugger. Like a lingering dilemma. Like cancer, or family relations on a precipice, or the stress that comes from keeping big secrets or constantly trying to evade law enforcement, and so on.

The episode might have seemed stupid or boring if you just think about events on the surface, but if you look at it as being metaphorical relevant to that point in Walt's life journey, it makes more sense. I liked that the series snapped right back into action in the next episode. The varying pace of this season has been fully intentional. It would have been unrealistic to have just carried on at the beginning of the third season without contending with the fallout (pardon the pun) from the finale of the second season.

Sorry folks I could yap about this show all day. It's the greatest.

i think they've been getting really good ratings this year and the nominations are sure to come pouring in. renewal seems certain but i guess that's just one more aspect of the show muddled with uncertainty.
episode by episode it's hard to assume anything. the last line of that article makes me wonder though, especially if season 4 is still up in the air. aaron has been fantastic in pretty much every scene this season though, he would be missed.
