Hey guys, I picked this guy up because he reminded me of various patchi creatures, but I can't find any info/other pics etc. of him. I did some cursory searches through the various awesome collections here but couldn't spot him. Anyway here are the pics: And here is a pic of the maker's mark on the bottom (yonezawa?):
It's by Yonezawa. Actually has a name too- Dabura. That's a really nice find. First time I've seen one 'in person.'
i have been looking for that vinyl for a while now . thats a great pick up ! this is a catalog shot of some original yonesawa kaiju .
Of course, ダブラ (Dabura) is a Japanese approximation of "Doubler." Perhaps he should be dubbed, "Doublar"?
great pick up zac! ive seen that guy on yahoo a few times, but never for a price i could agree with. some of the yonezawa kaiju are amazing. ill get that damn wolf-monkey if it kills me!
Thanks for all the great info guys! Yeah he's awesome despite his imperfections...is missing an ear/horn on one side, and he does have a little writing under his other foot. Anyway, yeah I really like these Yonesawa kaiju...Josh, I need that monkey wolf dude too! Let me know if you're bidding on one, so I don't bid you up.
yeah that is awesome what are the japanese characters for yonesawa? i've seen some of their tin robots before i think
