I'm of the belief that he's going to have a HORRIBLE season this year... last year was a fluke.

I'm fucking pissed!!!!!!!

Have fun going 8-8 or worse Favre.

Edit: Just heard Mortensen say that Brett wanted to go to the Bucs more than the Jets so I guess I can't be mad at him, but I am pissed at the Packers and Bruce Allen. Brett Favre is my favorite NFL player ever & to think he was almost on my team & now to not be is just sickening.

Sounds like the Bucs didn't want to give up the "conditional" draft pick. If Brett somehow has a really good year (Jets receivers are decent, O-line is massively improved thus improving their running game), the pick COULD go as high as a 1st. Still, Favre MAY still decide to stay retired. He really would rather have gone to the Bucs, so if he wanted to spite the Pack, he could re-retire.

Bottom line....Rodgers is not better than Favre, and the Packers are stacked. That's a no-brainer to me.

Oh, I'll still root for the Pack, but I have a little room for the Jets.

I'm not a Packers fan, but if they aren't playing in the same time slot as Tampa they are who I watch because of Favre. I totally agree with you. I'm not saying Rodgers will stink up the place, but Favre is still the better option at this point. Their front office will regret this whole fiasco.

I'm not much of a sports fan at all, but living in WI you really can't get away from the Packers. I completely agree though; if you do something stick with it - at least for more than six months. IMO the way Favre handled this whole thing was a textbook exercise in ego and bad public relations.

I agree. It kind of makes me look at Favre differently now. Anything Rodgers does at quarterback will be scrutinized under a microscope and fans will be left wondering if Favre would have done better. Instead of giving Rodgers room to breathe and letting the team move on. He created a circus.

I do feel bad for some athletes because psychologically they can't let go. I read that a lot of former players have to go to counseling after they retire because they don't know how to function without sports.

I agree totally. He could have exited with a great career as a Packer and an extra 20 million in the bank, and now he has to try to rally the Jets to some semblance of a winning season...tough days ahead for Brett. Then again, I'm a Chiefs fan and used to disappointment.

Man, I was hoping he'd go to the Vikings like he wanted to. The Packers did a great job in making sure he wouldn't end up there. There was a clause in the trade contract that would have the Jets give up 3 first round picks if they traded Favre to the Vikings. Ha! The Packers won that war.

There was no way that was ever going to happen. Right now, Packer mgmt is just disliked, and if Rodgers does well, fans will have a short memory. If Favre had gone to the Vikes, and he beats the Pack, mgmt is done.
