Seriously, the cobraman on the left might be the coolest toy I've ever seen... the cobra hand, the colors, just... wow. Any chance in hell of seeing one of these pop up here?
I had the pleasure of handling the cobra-dude (forget his real name...) at Morphy's. It's a GREAT toy! Shit...but then again, I had the chance to handle a LOT of truly amazing toys at Morphy's, so it was kind of a perpetual senses-overload!
today was a good day for me. in the mail waiting for me was everyones favorite Japanese giant flying squirrel monster, Musasbidoru! hes pretty well played with, but has his belt and beat up boots. fun to photograph, had sanjeev's toy porn idea in mind. and a comparison of the vintage vs reproduction i always lose out on kamen rider villains, so im excited to finally get this weird squirrel wolf fox looking guy.
Beautiful score Michael, really stoked for you. It is not too often you find these great figures over here, and to find one in good shape and complete is extra nice. Excellent pictures too btw. Looking forward to seeing this guy in your collection shots.
yeah its nuts- i did a little clean up just now, i was too excited to break him free and take pictures.
He's got both boots, that's half the battle right there. Nice score michael. So he's a flying squirrel villain? He kind of looks like a fox.
i was really excited about the boots- albeit they are pretty worn in. and yeah, flying squirrel. i just watched the episode and he's a huge jerk too. i originally liked him because i thought he was a fox and i couldnt find any information on him, then i thought he was a goofy red wolf or something. the fact that hes a giant flying squirrel monster just makes it all the better for me!
I once cut off the toe off a boot, by accident, when unpacking a villain. Still can't believe I stupidly did that. Fucking sucked. Now I never let scissors near vintage encased in bubble wrap.
i would freak out- i always try to be so careful with my vintage guys when unpacking. i thought the boots would be similar to the reproduction villains, but the vintage boots are so brittle and thin. if you saved the toe you cut off you can fuse it back together with a little heat- i patched a seam on my boot so it wouldnt rip further by placing it on a lamp light bulb for a couple seconds.
That is definitely horrible luck. I would never forgive myself. The boots are indeed extremely thin and brittle, which I guess is why a lot of the guys are missing one (or both). I can't really see any child getting them off, they aren't like Joe boots or anything similar, and I am guessing were never meant to be removed. Wonder why they made them so loose in the first place.
Love the colors on that fly kaijin OA. Nice collection. Heres my mini and mid-size guys Standard size riders Giant size "let have a clean fight, no snake bites"
I really dig how you display your vintage toys. Always near wood with vintage illustrations behind them.
Boy do I miss the access to the abundance of all kaiju sofubi, but especially Kamen Rider, that I had in Japan. Barely have found much at all since then, but I did pick up this mini from a great board sale (thanks again poysntixels! ).
