Yeah- definitely liking the black. Reckon the best is still the original blue though. Love these figures!
Wow, so I just check out what this "Mad Baron" thing is all about - kept seeing the name, but never clicked. Wow. I really like some of these! (Just looked through the Zollmen Flikr.) Here's how I rank the few I'd like to own: #1 Original two-tone blue. #2 Yellow #3 Black #4/5 tie Red & Phosphorus Of course I'll probably never own one - but I'd LOVE that two-tone Blue!
Prowling ebay and the FS threads here I've seen one or two red ones go, a purple one, and one or two yellows in the last say, two weeks? Didn't see the sale prices tho. Someone had also listed the purple Omake separate of the figure on ebay
Do Zollmen buyers/collects feel at all strange buying their stuff knowing that an SB board member is involved and unwilling to reveal their identity? To me that just feels odd. I haven't bought any Zollmen figures - I'm pretty split, some I like and some I think suck hard. But if given the opportunity to buy one (during a time in which I had spare money) I would feel a little skeptical given the circumstances. It's just such a weird thing that's going on, and not weird like Anraku's List. I'd be proud as all hell if I was producing toys.
No. Because all this stuff isn't true. It's all speculated fantasy and it's said over and over by those of us that know Zollmen again but people aren't satisfied enough. There is no conspiracy. I know Zollmen and they are in Hokkaido. So there's nothing weird about it case closed.
Interesting. So the American side of zollmen is an absolute myth and bryan flynn is nuts. Good to know.
Thanks Paul for clarifying! The American side (if you want to call it that) of Zollmen is Kingbee, who gets blanks to turn into his customs runs. I mean both Paul and Frank have done custom runs of Zollmen figures but no is calling them the" American side of Zollmen". I think any American side would just be friends with the person who owns the company and in turn he lets them do small runs. That's how I see it at least. No big conspiracy....
Sorry ---NT--- , not trying to scold you! Just trying to bring light to the situation. And I surely wasn't calling BF delusional. Please. I think they way this idea got perpetuated and malfomed by everyone is nuts. A total group effort. The way I see it, I think we're lucky to get offered a chance at these at all. I'm sure the run size could be about 30 at a time. So what do you want? 200 of each colorway, then the market is flooded and I bet alot of people would give up on Zollmen for sure. It would be no fun. Sure you want that? I think it's probably better I'm crying in my tea about not having a Maza handpaint cause there I go just thinking about it...and those hot flashes...sheesh...
Okay. But I'm getting mixed reports from sources I feel I can trust - you and S7 crew. You say there's nothing to it. And there's innuendo coming from Brian & Glenn. I have a hard time believing that S7 would say anything at all unless they knew something. And I don't believe you'd say anything that wasn't true either. So is it just that the King Bee store has a hook-up with Zollmen? Is the owner/operator of King Bee a board member who regularly contributes?
Im still on the fence about whether a small run that I cant get or afford is any fun? I am serious in not knowing if larger runs on more of these toys wouldnt just allow more people to enjoy these things without the associated pains in trying to acquire them.
I honestly think the small runs are not intentional. These guys are pretty small and really have to spend their funds carefully. There's a limit to how much they can afford to produce and how much they can paint within a certain time span. I personally saw Mr. Charactic's (sorry his name slip my mind) painting his mini hedorah on the same counter as his cash register. And there was room for maybe 12 of them. Its mixture of passion, artistic output and running a little business.
Okay, so I finally searched for King Bee's website and it's not a store at all, is it? Just some guy who paints Zollmen figures and sells them through a website.
i'm still confused as to how someone could sucker us into creating false hype and selling us stuff. if the toys sucked... we wouldn't buy it, period - i'm sure there's many examples of this. i'm glad he/she is keeping low runs... it keeps us interested longer (which is a plus for collectors). zollmen could always flood the market to match demand and make 5 years toys in a month and get everyone burned out(which is what other companies have done) & take the money and run.
And to a further extent, profit. The flippers are the one's who benefit, not the company (unless you're Bemon) so I don't get that part either.
I'm with GERMS and NT. I have a lot of very trustworthy people telling me Rory is King Bee. I suppose if they're wrong, they're wrong. But 1) these people wouldn't lie and it would be odd if they were ALL mistaken, and 2) I'm hearing no denies of this claim. Anyway, yes, I want 200 of each colorway, please. Flood the market. Let more people who like this stuff have access to it. Exclusivity does NOT equal fun. That's classism. I can understand if a toy maker is simply unable to produce more...but I feel that excuse is wearing thinner and thinner everyday...
but most releases are not exclusive & everyone has equal access. you also don't have to have your eyes glued to the computer everyday. anyways.. that's just my opinion. i don't think the way zollmen conducts their business sucks out the fun of collecting
