Oh THANK YOU PlasticXO! I will put that in my toy ledger :D
Aha! So it was you who adopted the GID unpainted from Mr. B (I was watching them go up several times, I think)! I was very tempted by that pair, but knowing there was a painted twin somewhere on the shelves, I kept hoping they'd come up for adoption ;)

Good luck to you and Stevie, I hope you'll find your own painted termites

p.s. that's exactly what my cat Henry does, and that's why it's so hard to keep him on his diet, he's so darn cute! :x

p.s. Not sure if you saw the Medicom versions of the Bakular PBs...

Quite garish compared to the Marmit version, but I do like the Magenta GID color.

    Well...
I sometimes think that internet has made collecting so much easier that you can't get that treasure hunter feeling anymore.

But there are also items that you could not get your grip onto, no matter how frequently you hammer your F5 button, or subscribe to any kind of lists.

Sometimes, you have someone thousands of kilometers away, whom you share the same passion with, even though you never actually met him, who grabs an item at the opposite side of the planet, knowing that this is the very item you've been looking for soooo long... And he got it for you...

My friend, I'd really like to thank you again for making this real.

Truly an excellent story, and I couldn't be happier for you man. Could not have went to a more deserving fan of Spectreman. Congratulations, I know you have been hunting for him for so long, and many thanks to the generous friend. This community really is made up of some great folks.

Thanks guys, SB can indeed gather some amazing people !

I know Bakura is popular, but I can't really explain the scarcity of this monster. Spectreman Parababies regularly show up, but Bakura almost never. Maybe the run was lower, maybe there is a secret Bakura worshipper circle somewhere.
It could have been understandable if the pair had been released at the end of the line, when only the hardcore collectors try to get the complete line and the sales dwindle, so does the production numbers, but it was produced in the middle.

Anyway, the Parababy line is the most exhaustive series of Spectreman monters. Not complete, but close. I like to think that Marmit or Bear Model is working on some unreleased monsters/characters for the future. Some are more seijin than kaiju, and they would be great as Parababies.

Anyone knows which series ended the Marmit Parababy line ?

I don't really know what the last character line was. I feel like it might have been one of the lesser known properties, like Robot Detective K maybe, or possibly the Mazinger figures; but that is based solely on my feeling, I don't remember the exact dates. I think after Marmit started pumping out a lot more Toho stuff, especially in the smaller scale, that was where they saw the popularity in sales. So they started to doa lot more Gojis and stuff in the 6" scale (which they technically called the Para Baby line), and moved away from the paired sets, oftentimes doing a smaller omake in with the core figure, rather than a duo. This - unfortunately - was the end for the 'cute' PB line. It would be great to see someone else do a smaller series like this, of affordable toys that covered a broad range of characters for one license. I miss it.

I guess the Maxtoy/Pico Pico line is evolving in this direction. The Dustman is hopefully the first of a Spectreman series ,though he seems limited to event sales.

Ha, I was just looking at this discussion a day or two ago, so quite timely that you bumped it. I think you are right, Maxtoy certainly fills this nicely, and has been doing some exiting, original stuff. I would suggest the same from Sunguts, too, actually, as they have expanded their licensed characters.

Yamomark have done a few new licensed mid sized characters in recent years too.
Also a handful of 6inch toys from Bullmark,I think Sevenger is the latest.
I love the playability of OG parababies ,simple paints, effective no frills sculpts with solid balance and joints.

The Maxtoy sculpts seem more similar to the Marmit Toho parababies rather than the TV show lines. The TV show sculpts tend to be a little less realistic and more stylized. Not quite cartoony, but less fine detail on the sculpts. Maybe softer is the right word?

For me, the TV show sculpts really scratch and itch that the Toho sculpts don't. Although I agree that the Toho marmit and Maxtoy scrupts are well done.

Edit: I really wish Marmit had done a Parababy Dada set and a second colorway of Red King. And Miclas and Windom for Ultraseven for that matter!

OMG. But can you imagine the aftermarket prices? The standard size are soooo expensive now.

No kidding, the prices on some Marmit - and M1, for that matter - stuff is utterly crazy. Where people are getting this sort of disposable money, and why they feel they need to out-compete each other on a very small subsection of the characters is quite incomprehensible.
