Haha I've actually been watching it over the past couple of weeks.. been meaning to watch it for so long! It's so good.. So much better than Louie. The thing that pisses me off about Louis CK's show is how there's always some morality statement thrown in that's so heavy-handed that I feel like I'm in the church of Louis CK and I'm being preached to (the end of the fat girls episode for example). Maron still brings in the real life drama aspect but it comes off way better than Louis' technique for his show.
Season 2 just ended and for two seasons theres not one bad episode. Im just as bitter as Maron so I can relate
Yeah man, i think its great. The second season was better than the first . . . seems like he's gotten used to acting and is more relaxed in front of the camera. I like the way he interweaves stuff he's talked about in his stand-up / podcast into the TV show. I love all the back and forth with his comedian friends, his family are pretty funny (when his brother turned up with a Hello Kitty bag full of cash for example), but his weird friends make me laugh the most . . . . . . I hope he gets a third season!
I read his new book about a month ago and laughed my ass off. Especially about the feral cats. Show is pretty funny. Same set up as Louie without the moral preaching. Reminds me of early Louie when the show was funny.
I'm a huge fan of the podcast and I really want to love the TV series but I just can't quite get there.
I just went back and rewatched the first season and enjoying it even more. Hope there will be a season 3.
I'm a huge fan of Marc Maron, listen to his podcast regularly and have see both seasons and stand up. I think I liked the first season better. It just felt a bit more funny. Not that the second wasn't good, I just liked the first a hair more. I hope he gets picked up for a third. It was weird hearing COOP on his podcast, and although no toys were mentioned it still felt like there was a connection to our group.
^^ Yeah, the COOP interview was great . . . Marc mentions that he saw his toy collection, but i would imagine Marc knows absolutely nothing and has no real interest in Japanese toys, so the subject never came up in the interview. The talk about pre-internet underground art and literature was fascinating. I've been a stand-up comedy fan for a long time so i was enjoying Marc's stand-up albums years before the podcast. I had no idea he had started one. My brother hipped-me to it in the end, i started around episode 40. We both met Marc after his first gig at the Soho Theatre in London. I didn't get much time to chat with him before he got mobbed by a bunch of students. He was friendly and cool. My brother didn't say much, he admitted it was the first time he's been 'star-struck' . . . he was a bit unsettled by the experience!
Been digging Maron for awhile now. I'm glad to see he's finally getting the acclaim he's worked so hard for. Love the podcast too. He's put in the legwork on the road and he's clearly making it happen.
I wish season 2 of Maron would show up on Netflix. I really enjoyed season 1. Did watch the special he had doing stand up on Netflix that was pretty funny and awkward.
Lookin' forward to season 3. If you have'nt already, check this out. Marc is often great as a guest on other podcasts . . . this one is a worthy listen. http://www.paulyshore.com/interested/20 ... marc-maron
^^^ Yep, episode 3 of the new season was interesting to see how it highlighted his lack of acting experience. Every time he wants to come across as emotional and upset he just screws his face up and shouts louder. He's doing a good job but he's not a real actor, just someone who's used to performing in front of people . . . . Other than that i'm loving it . . . the last episode about the black guys and his laptop was really funny.
Just finished up season 2 on Netflix and had no idea a 3rd season was airing. So thanks! Great show. So bitter, I love it.
I had a chance to see him in Atlanta a few weeks ago, but didn't find out until I had already bought tickets for something else. He's basically a more modern, smarter and realistic George Costanza
Had no idea it started.. thanks for the heads up! Loving his little jabs at BJ Novak this season.. Maron is so much better than Louis CK
Fuck me . . . the President of the United States on WTF? I never saw that one coming. Its a long way from the early days of WTF.
Not only that but the prez drops the N-bomb! It's pretty cool indeed, but I feel like Maron's ego has grown proportionally with his success, which I am sure this will exacerbate.
That one episode in Season 3 'Node' sums up me on the phone with any customer service precisely. http://www.ifc.com/maron/videos/maron-m ... ch-support
