Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 I've never been to a clutter show, and I didnt even know they did shows actually.. I think its a pretty wierd way of doing things. If I'm gonna travel hours to go to a show I'd expect the shit to actually be available for purchase if I'm there early enough or pull a good line number or whatever.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Lots of places do this. TAG used to before they had their new place on Melrose(and I never used to go to TAG openings). Rotofugi and Dragatomi both do it. They do make acceptions though, and this show should be 1 of those acceptions. The best example is when Rotofugi has a Gargamel show, or their Toy Karma show. They know stuff will be high demand so they give a first shot to locals. All this said, I think a brick and mortar shop should always give locals first shot at gallery shows. All these toys will sell, it's just the preference to sell them before the show or not...it's kinda shitty. If you're not going for a Nag, skip the opening. Let Clutter know that it isn't worth going to because all the stuff you want is already sold.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 just seems like a strange way of selling show pieces to me.. plus its alot harder to get your lady to go to an event.. "you say you already bought the stuff you want online..and now you want me to drive a couple hours to hang out with toy nerds and talk about a fuckin boryoku genjin?!"
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 ^ What's funny is it looked weird and wrong. So I searched it, saw it wasn't misspelled and accepted it for what it was.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Yes it is a very odd way of holding a show.. That is why everything is gonna be available To attendees FIRST.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 I put in my word. I want everyone going to have a chance! Except some people who bring people.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Closer to me than I thought. I'll try to swing by too. I just assumed it was in Brooklyn like most things, but I was thinking about the CCM at the time.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Based on the prices of ones sold at other NY events I would guess anywhere from $500-$800.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Any previews from the other artists? This show is going to be fantastic. Good luck to all that attend.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Unless they have already removed "sold" items the preview is pretty lackluster, mostly grody and velictron, only one of the 3 buff customs, and that kaiju negora painting. Look forward to seeing pics of the show later, plus ill probably pickup the exhibit catalog.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 LOL at holding this show in NY (even Buttfuck NY) . . . might as well just toss 'em on eBay and cut out the middleman!
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Any idea on what the hours will be after tonight? Not sure I can make it tonight.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 haha damn, what a fuck fest would that be.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Most likely 800 if they are all one-offs and 4 eyes.
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Guys, a world exists beyond Nags. As hard as that is to believe sometimes around here. And, because it seems no one here gives a pile of Dun_ys about anything anymore:
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 $850 for one of those ugly things is beyond crazy let alone what theyll be flipped for haha
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 So who's got photos from the show? I wanna see all the toys!
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 If you're a Clutter gallery subscriber, online buying for what's left started a short bit ago
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 That cant be everything... I know its just whats suppose to left for sale but I mean theres no way that PK stuff lasted to be put up online so im a little lost
Re: "Monsters From The Island" group show in NYC March 9 201 Sold out stuff was listed as sold out. At least one MVH made it to the internet though
