love the Sam sculpt and the purple color. Congrats!
how come it's rather quiet lately? it's quiet over at ollie's thread too
I'm not trendy anymore lol
I'll pimp my own wears since no ones
reading anyways haha.
Some new dx heads off to Japan next week, and my new worm creature.
so good. are the teeth made of different clay? also, the back must be hiding something gnarly.
Personally, I like it a bit more when artists themselves post about their projects and upcoming releases here. I don't at all mind doin' it, but I can only do it so much before I feel like a shameful fanboy in some threads. These look to be some pretty gnarly additions to the timeless DX body. Can't wait to see vinyl test pulls.
Not doji or sludgees but if any of the newer folk want a history lesson on some of your older works (pre MVH) I dug this up and dusted off the cobwebs...
Have at it kids
The Ken and Ryu RxH customs are my personal favorites that LASH had done on RxH. The Shinto - San in that thread looks like an Akuma homage, too. I've seen the Obake dog he did forever ago in the current owner's home, too. Those metallics are pretty bonkers.
The use of color is so intense in those customs. Makes me wish I was around in those days to have a chance to get one of those beautiful toys.
In case anyone is curious, Rich confirmed on IG that both the head and tail of the worm are the same joint size so they can me switched. I'm always a fan of toys that are more natively customizable out-of-the-box, so to speak.
til you post the new one eyed guy lol im curious about the teeth too. why different clay? first i thought it was a real fangs, you know, from crocodile or something. to save time sculpting em lol
I've asked this in the past too. I believe we came to the consensus that they're baby teeth. Yes, no?
If they're baby teeth, they must come from a damn terrifying baby! Look at them fangs! Also, I'd like to know where they come from too............
Masks for Doji-san 2.0. All great masks, but I really dig the devil like version (first photo) and kappa masks.
Perhaps this is answered in another thread and if so please link it. But how are the masks pulled? Is it a full head and beyond the scupt of the mask smooth? then just the mask is cut off?
Regardless these are so awesome. The first Doji is so cool so 2.0 looks to be even better. And the other 2 headed NOBU for it looks incredible. I hope Rich decides to go with the flesh color on these guys at some point. Beautiful color to show off all the features.
like above it looks like a head, with one mask on each side of the pull... and then its cut out. the inside of the mask is just the inside of the pour... it conforms as much to the mold as it could. that one above is beautiful ^^ were those resin masks? the first release velocitrons at S7 for PK show during sdcc were both resin masks... i know the first glow release was vinyl masks... but you never know, some could be resin as well.
Thanks for the info and makes sense that two masks would be on one pull to cut down on waste and cost I'm sure. I'd love see these before they were cut.
Also that one I believe it do be an early dcon run perhaps 2012?? The mask is vinyl not resin and painted by the man himself. I also have a blank GID version with red eyes. I believe to be the first glow release. That one has both masks and a natural tweed string for the masks.
Considering the style of paint in this amateur custom and certain politics from over the years, this sludgie is pretty funny for a bunch of reasons but in all fairness it's a really cool take on how to paint the sculpt.. almost converting the sculpt into something goofy like the goner dog!
That's pretty unique. And - screw anyone who thinks they own a certain paint technique. I learned 'stippling' in 7th grade art class for chris'ake!
