This could be an absolute clunker of a thread, but here we go: Let's talk nail varnish. I love me some color. Manglaze I have some of their Matte Is Murder (black) which is a frequent standby. And of course I love Cabron (dark purple), but I gave my bottle to a lady friend. Other faves are usually in the purple-black family: Chanel's Roubachka; OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark, Viking In A Vinter Vonderland, Hello Hawaii Ya? So, do any of you ladies, or fancy guys, want to recommend some brands, colors, etc?
I tend to use Chic Gothique, an imaginary brand invented by the inner angst of my youth. Bela Lugosi's Red.
Chic Gothique have a number of other excellent color selections, too: Virgin Prune; Currant 93; and The March Violet, just to name a few. EDIT: Selections, not sections. Oy!
I prefer stilettos or almond as far as nail shape goes! "How great is your dane" by OPI is a great color, it's dark but not black It has a milky finish

EDIT: Also, those are not photos of my hands, I can assure you that mine are not that well maintained. They are swatches from blogs that I yanked from Google. LOLOL You don't know how many times I went back to look at those hands because I was not sure! I was like wow I am impressed and so tiny! I was confused
i usually go to the nail spot by my work. my only real concern is that the product is vegan friendly/not tested on animals. i usually go plain ol glossy black but that matte is murder is so cool!
Manny (@MoonspellxRites) - If you hadn't noticed already, Manglaze is all "Big 3 Toxin Free & Cruelty Free." I'm not sure about vegan-friendly, but the owner is a pleasant guy who always seems to respond to communication quickly. For me they dry easily, and wear well even with no base or top coat. There is also Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, who make "100% vegan & cruelty free" products. Their formula is a 5-free one, and to me it dries very slowly. I've got OCC's: Inky (blue-black), Pagan (purple-black), and the rather unique Blackboard (green-black), which really does look like its namesake when dry.
CG ended up being on the wrong end of the lawsuit over the name Matte is Murder, sadly, but their Mozzer! line is still going strong, with Pretty Girls Make Grey, There is a White That Never Goes Out and A Rush And A Push And The Tan Is Ours being the perennial best sellers. I've got a new post for Skullbrain's hottest new white noise thread: This is Ellison's Organics in Lots of Planets Have a North on my manky thumb. It's a lovely dark purple gray and is vegan and 3-free.
I've never been big on nail polish/varnish, but I have honestly never seen matte before. Now I'm tempted to try!
