There's a fine line between passion and sheer annoyance. Quit jacking every thread related to Butanohana in the name of one of your "personal projects".
Personally I appreciate David's efforts here (and in other threads). The screencaps are relevant to the toys here, though the large images do load very slowly. Maybe hide most of them under spoilers? I wouldn't check this thread for actual toy info any time soon anyway, as it's so soon after a release.
^ Nope, it's Mandrake unloading Mandrake's collection: Those are all of the toys that they couldn't sell during the two Zenbu auctions earlier this year. The fun part is that they raised the price on most of them! Whee.
^^^Thanks for the update! I was wondering where all of those came from. It's a shame they are so expensive . A pink Big Lips also sold recently at auction for just over 35000 JPY, so I guess Mandarake is following their pricing on that example . What's weird is that a Dorobon, flew out of Mandarake for a very "cheap" price! Ok, another question please... Are these two the same versions? versus or is there a new "cream" version that I'm not aware of? Didn't see the top version in the database. Help please.
And yet... http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/auction/it ... dex=271599 http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/it ... 01013.html Literally the same piece of plastic. Grrr.
Bwanas got a small run of Icarus that he painted over on the grass hut page. Somethin else over there too..
Sooooo, I got Zazahn, Jamila, and Zarab Postman in the mail today. Something seems off from the Butanohana of the past. I know he mentioned using softer vinyl in one of his blog entires (maybe February?) but these don't even seem like Butanohana toys?! They seem bigger than normal, very soft (Jamilla popped right in half upon unpacking). They almost seem like how toys were bootlegged in the 70's. I mean I suppose Butanohana is going more eco friendly but I like the hard vinyl crude detailed sculpts of the past. These feel like how bathtub rubber duckies feel? Maybe I'm just losing my mind because the only two new Butanohana toys I've bought recently were Red King mini (very hard vinyl) and Reissue OG Red King (oldschool hard vinyl) and I'm just overwhelmed getting three new toys at once. What do others think upon opening the new toys?
I haven't gotten mine yet, but I don't really mind the softness too much, but I guess I prefer more rigid. the red king joe was very soft and the peanut micro sets too. I dunno why he would use it all the time tho. I thought the micros because then you don't need heat to mix and match.. my king joe had a piece come apart when I was setting him up.. the robot teacher from chibira kun (name escapes me at the moment) is also super soft and squishy. I remember that post about trying to find eco alternatives but I thought he mentioned it wasn't working or he didn't like it.. so maybe the softness has nothing to do with that, or maybe he figured it out and it does.
^^^ I just realized I used the word Butanohana about 8 times in two sentences, edited lol. Yeah I'm probably going a tad crazy. I'm by no means rejecting them and tossing them to the curb, but hey are definitely a lot softer than the older toys. It's quite noticeable. I'll try and put some pics up tomorrow.
Bwana did a great job on those Icarus, Almost look as though they could have been a standard Buta release. I've got the standard green version on the way, so will be able to make comment on the vinyl when it gets here.
Well either they are super soft or I've developed super human strength over night: I was able to press Zarab Postman's face flat, try this with a older Butanohana toy and see if you don't hurt your hand! Here's the bunch (Zarab is definitely the charmer of the lot):
Hummm! You mean I have to actually open the baggie and check? Just got Zazan and Zarabu. I was surprised they were fulll sized, I thought they were a special middle size (so many things to keep track of! ). I do the "charmin" test tonight and report back. I also have a JYA box on the way with the 3 pc show toys-so I'll have to check for softness there too. Thanks for the −CH=CH2 report Chris!
