Yes, as Bryce has pointed out, this Woo came out fairly recently as part of the last batch of figures, all of which were paint variations on previously released figures (two major colour changes/new versions, and two slight alterations to paint scheme he has already did). Here is the image he shared on 3 May before their release:

So, we've talked about it a little in open here (as well as between us in private discussions), and I just wanted to follow up on my previous post. I was initially a little hesitant to re-post this image, as Oohashi-san has made vague reference in the past to some unwanted 'sharing' of information from his blog. Unfortunately, we were never able to determine for certain whether it was related to things posted here or not. So, subsequently, I have always refrained from doing so, caring to err on the side of caution. Which is unfortunate, because it is a loss to the open dialog I think this board promotes, as well as leaves omissions in information - or only vague references - which leaves people who might come across it later having to hunt to figure out what was being discussing, if it is even still available somewhere. And further to this, Mr. Buta's creations are frankly amazing, and we share them out of appreciation and love, and with all due respect to his work. He also takes such wonderful photos of his toys. I don't know how many other places on the interwebs where Buta toys might be being discussed, and I have never seen any direct reference to/fallout against Skullbrain, but still, I don't like to think that I might ever [however inadvertent] be responsible for any discomfort, no matter the degree, of an artist that we all love.

So, getting right down to it, I have now noted that the above referenced image - which I shared for clarification because, again, the question was asked and it wasn't clear at all about the nature of the toys being discussed - has since been removed from the Butanohana blog post. This is not at all the first time he has done so, and might mean nothing, but the chance that it IS potentially related is of concern to me. :| I really meant no disrespect, and offered up the reference to his site where it came from, and full credit to him always. This is also after the release occurred, and avoids any mention of pricing/sales location/etc., so no cause for alarm in hyping/effecting the buying of them; in other words, just sharing the toys he has released.

The point is, basically, I am thinking of removing this image, and again refraining from re-posting stuff here, which is sad. This is probably a conversation we ought to have here on SB, and applies to all makers. Should we be freely sharing images, when we don't have explicitly permission to do so? Just because something is available on the internet, does that imply it is fair game? I don't have the answers to these questions of course, but I'd like to hear what others think, at least specifically in how it relates to information from the Buta site. What do you guys think? Should we just go 'dark' and expect everyone to leave it up to themselves to regularly check toy blogs? If the communication barrier wasn't such an issue, we might know better how to tread in these situations, but as is, I for one, simply don't know. Happy to hear others' thoughts on this matter.

With all due respect Steve absolutely not. Image is up again anyhow, could have been a site update or glitch of some kind. I've even updated the Butanohana database (and short of never posting a pic there is no way I can be stopped on this because I have the technology to work around photo restriction online). I'm sorry these are toys, and toys being sold to the public (well if you live in Japan they are). While I do not profess to speak for the maker, this whole shroud of secrecy is complete BS or not even true. There are no half measures- you're either selling online and putting photos out there of what you are selling, or you're selling out of your home or the back of the truck by word of mouth. You make something and put it out there for sale online it's fair game to post a pic of I think. I honestly don't think he cares, and if he did thats a bit of a slap in the face of his rabid fanbase here because we've been heavily promoting his product for many years.

^ Agreed. Surely if he removes the images it must be to simply cut down on the careless sharing by the knuckleheads out there. I'd like to think that if he knew about this here little haven for the news, praise and adoration of his works, he might even chime in once in a blue!

Not new, no, but I'd rather people would pass on these ridiculous gouges, for the state that it makes collecting for the rest of us. Personal reason, I know, but there ya have it.

Um. Guilty sometimes. Here in the midwest it is sometimes hard to tell if i'm being gouged or if it's just the natural accumulation of many sticky hands on the chain before it gets to me. Also, I tend to get excited. Will try to be more discerning. Unless I get excited. It's the dinosaur's fault, actually.

How much fun is this art? :) I love the exasperated expression, I can well imagine the sorts fo phone calls that office has to deal with! And the little renditions of the kaiju (and pilot) toys - perfection.

It is almost as though someone knew, the only way to attract a certain Buta collector back into the world of safoobeez would be to make a clothed dolly. Go figure.

Alas, would that another (even standard) G would have been in the grouping, that could have allayed my desires somewhat for the first orangey fella. These G3 releases are a real strain on two of my fandom bones. :| I was sort of hoping that, especially with the popularity they have clearly drawn now, at some point at least they would have made a 'standard' release through the usual Buta store.*

    * this of course in no case necessarily makes it any easier for us lowly folks to attain said beauties of vinyl creation.

    About event sale
This time I would like to sell people who have knowledge, who prefer your name and face here.
Everyday, I am planning to grasp customers by mail order or inquiries etc. However,
Last year, when opening at the C3 event two years ago, there was a sense of incompatibility between the number of customers and the face who got alongside the venue soon.
Is there someone who does not know the name of the goods sold, is it really a customer? There were also people who thought.

The number resold in proportion to selling to unfamiliar faces has also increased.
After thinking variously, I also wrote it at the beginning, but I would like to sell people who have knowledge, those who know your name and face here, with priority.
Details will be announced at a later date."

I realize Mr. O is referring to identifying potential buyers at the toy events, but I wish he'd extend that courtesy to overseas fans who really love his toys and won't resell them. All he has to do is look through the Buta posts here, to figure out who the die hards are!

Yes, more robuts would have been ideal, especially considering the limited 'scope' of the line; but at the same time, I would imagine that these human figures fit in more with what his intentions have been for the Buta Gundam toys, i.e, to make toys of figures not ever produced (prototype suits) and neglected (humanoids). Some other pilots or crew would have been nice to see too, but that might all be in the future.
