Anybody know what series these Denboku figures come from? I assume most to all are Tezuka designs? Unfortunately I'm only now discovering many of his stories.

The very bottom pic is Tezuka's character Garon who first appeared in Tezuka's Magma Taishi series aka Space Giants or Goldar. Also known as Devil Gallon i Think. I don't recall seeing a lot of toys on him. I used to have the vintage Imai model kits of Garon and Magma Taishi. There was also a great tin robot made of Garon by the Osaka Tin Toy Institute in recent years. The others look familar but not sure....

Awesome, thanks for the info Ralph.

There were a few Kimba the White lion figures too, so I think the top fellow might be from that? Just guessing though.

There were a couple other characters with that red header...still don't know anything about those..maybe from a different artist?

The 2nd and 3rd to last are from "Apachi (Apache)Yakyu-gun", a baseball anime. I'm almost certain the 2 before those are Tezuka characters, but I'll be damned if I can remember the shows...

I can add that they're made by Sakamoto Showten, who also did the VOTOMS vinyls:

I was wrong...the mouse w/ glasses is from "Ganba no Bouten" or "Ganba's Adventure", and the little mustache guy is from a newer anime called "Coil -A Circle of Children".

Sorry for the bad pic, I promise I'll try and post some more decent ones but I've recently fell in love with Denboku and wanted to inject some life into this thread. I'm really looking forward to hopefully seeing some new minis at the upcoming WF. Any updates would be appreciated, I'm sure by more than one of us.

Denboku is another really underrated sofubi maker. Their figures are amazing, always done in the highest of quality with thick vinyl and beautiful paint applications and not to mention the classic retro styling. I'm drooling for those Tiger Mask sets! Great score!

The tigermask sets are great but way to much on the secondary market. It's one of those instances where I'd rather buy the vintage versions VS brand new remakes.

That's true on those remakes Bryce, they can be very expensive.
It's been a while but I think some of the original figures they've produced for example, Phantom Ghost Ship or Dororo are somewhat more within reach.

Denboku in general seems very expensive to me, I'm not sure why but I suppose it has to do with the licensing? Are those Tiger Mask minis exact replicas of older figures?

I often think of Five Star in the same league, those are the same reasons why I got into the Kinnikuman line in the first place (besides the manga). These are some of the only toys I've kept MIB, just because of how great they look in those little bags. I would love to take them out but I know a part of me would also regret it.

They do look great in those multi colored bags Rob!
It's obvious what to do....snag another set you can open! ; )

Has anyone here posted pics of them outside the bags? I'll have to do some digging...

no, but they are similar in style to the 1st tiger mask mini series:[IMG]
though looking more at it, none of these guys were made in that 1st series (the ones that were also standard sized nakajima releases): golgotha cross, egyptian mummy, great zebra, the convict, mr x, universal mask, and the dracula.
nevertheless, these denboku minis look great and it would be cool to see how they compare in person to one another.

Awesome, thanks Charlie. Do you know who produced this first series?
Courtesy of the great Kaiju Korner here's a shot that I think was posted elsewhere:

    Beautiful Figures!
I did't realize some of the characters Denboku made weren't originally made by Nakajima!

Oh so I'm confused, it is Nakajima after all. Apologies as I thought the Nakajima ones were limited to the slightly taller figures with posable arms  And yes, I love the fact that Denboku has extended the line up!

Nakajima did make the standard size Tigermask and there was a mid-size I used to have as well.
I assumed they made the mini versions.

This was the mid-size I had.
