all the excitement (or hype or what-have-you) over this figure got me to look at him more closely, even though apes aren't my thing at all. I love the face and the rigid bulkiness of the sculpt. Great colors as well.
I like it because it has a vintage flash art feel going on I think. I also think the colors make it. The first version did nothing for me, but each one that comes out gets better and better in my eyes. I'm still not willing to dish out crazy cash for one, but I'm keeping my eyes open and willing to try and trade up for one. This one is my favorite version now, the red not being far behind.
to me, it's just another ape toy. Apes are fun and all, but i like these colors especially--well at retail price I like them. I really don't get why this toy is so balla.
I certainly like this toy - although it took me a while to warm to it - but I completely agree with the comments above. Emperors new clothes syndrome, that and it being super limited. If they made 50, these would be kicking about for cost in BST. Wish the were, I'd love one - but not for an inflated price
I think I'm the opposite. I love the whole king kong/ape thing that it's got going on. The vinyl is bulky and super heavy and it goes really well with standard size gamerudons, gogas and of course who can forget the king...godzilla. One toy I like but don't get the pricing is the two headed monster by bemon. That just looks like a spawn/heman toy. I get the whole HARRYHAUSEN sort of nod but it baffles me in terms of how much they go for.
