Both true comments. What stimulated my original comment is that I was lucky enough to get a chance to see what Mori has produced in the period since fight figures took a back seat (I started paying less attention because of the lack of said fights) and I was/am so impressed. New release RxH is hard to get for anyone but the few folk who are within traveling distance of the occasionally open store - but I cant help but admire a true don't-give-a-fuck attitude and the total absence of hype. I also wish the releases were a bit easier to get, but when u do score something cool, it really makes that piece even more special.
True dat! I have fantasies about taking a month off, going to Tokyo, and camping out in front of the store everyday. See what I can come home with.
I don't collect Real x Head, but I absolutely appreciate the integrity and passion behind what Mori creates. Meeting him at DCon was really cool, too. I can't wait to visit his shop soon.
I was so bummed at the last moment to not be able to goto DCon Mori had some amazing figures there And the recent clear with clear green release adult Kaosman was so gorgeously INSANE
I was in Tokyo recently for a few days and visited Mori-san's shop. He is a very cool and very nice guy! I picked up a nice Chaosman (owl version) from his shop and he gave me a discount and a little Chaos Bean gift, which was really unexpected and super nice of him. I never got to see Shinto Gangu, but his shop right now is quite small and basic, but still has a nice atmosphere since he's displaying loads of his adult size figures. I would have loved to have bought some of those, but they were not for sale. There weren't any fight figures or mutant zone minis on display, but, like I said, the shop area is very small. Unfortunately I don't have any photos to share; I'm not much of a photo guy and I was also a bit wrapped up in the experience so I literally forgot to take any. I would have liked to have had one with Mori, but there's always next time. I also met Ayako Takagi (UAMOU) at her shop and she was really helpful and great! She called Mori-san and let him know a fan from Australia wanted to see his shop, because I told her I had tried a couple times over a couple days without success since I wasn't sure about the opening hours. Anyway, she was great and very nice. I bought a mixed parts Real Uamou figure from her shop, which I think is my favourite toy from the Japan trip. I think you can see some of these in an earlier photo in this thread from D Con? Bright colours mixed with black and white parts, all unpainted. Really great. The toy community in Tokyo seems really great and very friendly from my brief time spent there. I'd like to go back again.
I follow a lot of the people who grab them right away on Instagram and while I love seeing the pics, it is utterly depressing that the first time I see it for sale, it goes for 2x,3x, even 4x Mori's original price. Regardless, the figures exist and the world is slightly more awesome because of it.
What is the story with this? Flipper confrontation? Pretty dramatic pictures on Mori's instagram tonight..
Looking at the date stamp and the back walls, I think it's NYCC 2012. Is it one of the Skulltoys guys?
I was at NYC2012, I think it was just Yu from Skulltoys & that's not him. I am gonna say the photo depicts an epic battle between Mori & davidborn2007. Mori emerged victorious, but the princess was in another castle.
Mori used a secret finishing move that involved shoving a large piece of soft-vinyl into the Flippers blow-hole . . . . It had to be surgically removed, but the Flipper had the last laugh because he sold the piece for many $$$ (after careful cleaning).
That dude is "Just married" Tetsuya Takagi . Brother of Ayako (Uamou). Chef of Boo Cafe. Not flipper.
Mori has got to be the most ripped toy maker around. Those pics look totally staged for shits and giggles. If they were real the other dude would have genuine fear in his eyes. Were any of you seriously thinking this was anything but RxH having some fun?
SHIN ATOM LEGEND III I will put better pics of Atom's releases in the dedicated Atom A thread shortly
"Shin Atom Legend III" exclusives are insane, but that Bakemon couple is sexy as [expletive deleted]!!!
There's always great stuff at that shop. One day I'd like to be one of those folks on line, waiting to get in. The Bigaroid arms on the adult figure are killer!! I thought they were new arms at first. I can't believe it took so long to do this. Perfect fit.
^^ I just assumed datadub was a very busy man with other commitments so it did'nt work out as planned.
