Here are some screen shots from a filmed release of Pee-wee's pre-playhouse live stage show, "The Pee-wee Herman Show" (1981) featuring a giant sized Godzilla figure and an Ultra Seven poster. I've been a Pee-wee fan since I was a kid, but never got around to catching this release. I was surprised and excited to see some of my favorite characters featured in the set.
Yeah, he used to buy stuff from Kimono My House way back. I was always stoked to see this years ago with that Popy talking Goji in there!
Gary Panter was a kaiju collector back then (and his wife at the time managed the band, The Germs). Small world, eh?
Rob new album kick ass. Some songs even sound like stuff from the first couple of White Z. albums. Great road music.
The Pee Wee show had an amazing cast and crew. I think this show opened the doors for a lot of creative people to become more successful and step from underground to "legit" or whatever the term would be for making it big. And it was a great and fun show in and of itself. Well missed. I skipped the recent live show of Pee Wee's return here in LA because it was to much money for the sake of nostalgia. Doesn't the top picture capture all of looking at our own collections?
