Hello East Coast Tri-State Brethren! I am back in the dirty jerz for my forthcoming wedding. While here I randomly scored a gig at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch NJ playing a short set this Wed June 15. I'll probably go on somewhere around 10pm. The main show is a surf rock band called Ultratorqued http://www.reverbnation.com/ultratorqued I haven't played live in awhile (maybe 2 years) and got this gig while doing my "Modern Day Spirituals for the Disenfrancished" set at the bar's Sunday night poetry mic last weekend. That set is just about as absurd as it sounds, but the guy hosting liked it and booked me for wednesday. i don't think its a paying gig for me, but that's okay. feel free to swing by if your in the NJ area tomorrow. i've got some old recordings up at my old myspace music page linked below- the recording quality is questionable, but the essence is there and the vocals don't sound entirely like shit. http://www.myspace.com/slimoliver http://www.brightonbar.com/ the show is not currently listed on the bar's website, and probably won't be by tomorrow either. classic. 9:30 pm is when i'll get there.
Slim, had no idea you are so talented... I like Carlos Castaneda...catchy tune. congratulations on the wedding. don't get too wasted at the bachelor party the night before and show up hung over with a black eye. have a great gig as well.
Good Luck on the gig today man and Super congrats on the Wedding.. Oh yeah and thanks for kicking so much butt!!!
the show went great! typical crowd for a wednesday- sparse, but there were 2 other acts so still a decent amount of folks. thanks for the support everyone. i may do another show in a week or two. i do plan on coming to NYC sometime soon. i have to stop by mishka and drop off the x-mas presents i have for you, greg, and the staff there. i tried to deliver at x-mas, but the snowstorm kept me away in dec as the roads in new york were completely crap then.
