    RIP Max von Sydow

An acting legend of six decades of the silver screen, and even more on stage. The native of Lund, Sweden is probably recognisable to anyone who has seen a film he appeared in, even briefly. A true veteran, and one whose roles - both small and large - become immediately memorable. His acting range is detailed in the incredible variety of projects he was a part of, and his dedication to the craft evident in his performances. His early acting work brought him to the attention of Ingmar Bergman, with whom he'd go on to etch his name onto the history of cinema. I think this quote from filmmaker Edgar Wright is a nice hommage:

To this I would add performances across Conan the Barbarian, Strange Brew, and Dune, which forever made him stand out to me. He continued to be in demand through the 90s, being cast in Awakenings, Needful Things, and Judge Dredd. More recently he also gained noteworthy attention for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Shutter Island and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and even appeared - and was Emmy-nominated - as the Three-eyed raven on Game of Thrones. His filmography includes so much more than to list here.

I salute the man, and his body of work. May he continue to be remembered and enjoyed through the legacy he leaves behind.

RIP Max. Synthesizers were made for his performance of Ming the merciless.
I remember watching the Seventh Seal alone in the middle of the night feeling I was in the presence of a genius actor & filmmakers.
But I never realised he was in the Exorcist and other films without the moustache! That means he was the guy on the front of the Exorcist poster & video tapes, way cool!
