Funny you mention the sound of Cory's voice - while I was listening I picked up on some weird hitches in the accent and I couldn't place why it sounded so strangely familiar... then it hit me! Check out this video from around the 9:35 mark. It's the long lost ghost of Ricky - they sound so strangely familiar in the inflections of their speech. I wonder if Cory and Ricky grew up in the same area of the states? Perhaps Ricky has been disguised as Cory this whole time!! The sofubi conspiracy continues...

I remember the toy but didn't't make the connection . . . 'I'm new, I'm the king of Kidrobutt and the master of all things Japanese vinyl . . . now buy my toy!'

    Meh!

I found the interview illuminating. I love hearing about the process, it's quite intriguing.

I finally had a chance to give the full interview a listen. Like many things, I guess it depends on your level going into it, and expectations. The interview certainly contained lots of information, how much of it is new or useful depends on your perspective and how much you know about the hobby, which is totally fair. I guess if you are only in it to chase popular things, or are coming from a 'Western' designer vinyl background (which seems to be suggested) than yeah, you might learn some new stuff; though that [the former] is unlikely to be the audience/folks who are receptive to information. There are a few points I take issue with, but hey, what kind of boring place would this be if everyone just agreed all of the time? I appreciate Cory sitting down in any case and taking the time to share his knowledge and experiences, so big  for that.

Thanks for sharing this here @Waterbear; might I enquire of the general audience who exactly is involved in this podcast, e.g. a bit of background on the panel (names), and stuff like the Deadbeet association actually helps frame these discussions.

Do tell, do tell.. would be interesting to get some back and forth discussion going about this podcast, especially seeing as Cory is an active member here to help explain things a bit better.

I'm no expert really but I did listen to the show in the beginning for a little while. Maybe a couple of years ago. One of the guys I enjoyed listening to left the show and was replaced with George Gaspar at some point who used to run October Toys and I think was one of the guys behind starting Dcon. The other people on the show are Gary Ham who makes toys himself but more of the western designer toy variety and Therese Hawkins who I know nothing about at all. The stuff I remember was basically about Clutter and The Designer Toy Awards and people who do custom dunnnny stuff. Some interesting bits about gallery shows and how to put them together and what usually goes wrong. It was a toy show for the most part about stuff that doesn't really exist on Skullbrain. Like I said I only heard a handful of episodes years ago but it was very western oriented which is why the last two episodes being about Japanese and Chinese vinyl were so interesting to me. That also should probably give the hosts some leeway in regards to what they did and didn't know I guess.
