Well, with the official notice of cancellation finally coming now (I think most people saw this as inevitable), one of the longer event holdouts has been postponed until next year due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. It is obviously the most sensible decision which could have been reached, and whether the delay up until this point was due to over-optimism, or to take advantage [as it highly likely] of government-mandated actions/outside authority to invoke “force majeure” to cover insurance, etc. for this event - I mean, let's face it, this is a business, and SDCC has generated over $19 million in previous years and consistently brings massive waves of business into the city annually. But the simple fact is people are dying. This is serious. In the face of a pandemic it would be highly irresponsible to proceed with any large grouping even, never mind the massive extent of one like SDCC. So anyway, while I deeply feel for the people, businesses, and especially the fans involved, who were really stoked for the Con, this seems justified.

With all of that being said now, I know it has sort of petered out with respect to soft vinyl output in recent years, but there are still some interesting things which come out from SDCC each year, not least of which are from Super7. It will be interesting to see how some of these planned exclusives are distributed. Possibly, similar to how Creature Bazaar was handled, preference could be given to badge holders first? Could also mean some interesting exclusives available to the public online, or even more instant 'sold outs' due to flippers, who knows. It's neither here nor there at this point, we'll see as it comes. Just glad that everyone is staying sensible and safe, and sorry to everyone who had plans to attend and meet up with good folks either at this - or the any of the 'side' venues. ;)

Don't worry - those cunts are more focused on hand-sanitizer and bottles of Vitamin C tablets atm

We stopped going in 2016. Closing the Con down was a sensible decision considering how packed this event is. Con Flu was hard to avoid imagine something as contagious as Covid-19 circulating in such a crowded venue? Ugh.

Oh...you must mean that 'side' venue with free entry, great people that had no intention of going to the con anyway, no flippers, no hype, great vinyl toys, beer and great tacos?
Pretty sure out of simple common sense, it won't be happening either. Most of us here in Cali are trying to slam that curve and it's going to be a long haul from the looks of it. ;) It's unfortunate. I deem it the most beautiful night of the year. Shame to think about all the parking and no traffic.

. . . I miss the Japanese vinyl overdose over the course of a single weekend in the sun of yesteryear!

Just announced . . . SDCC 2021 will be a 3-day ONLINE event in July.

There is a possibility of a 3-day in person event in November (whatever form that may take!).

I read that with every ticket purchased, you get a mister filled with real nerd sweat to better simulate the in-person experience.
