He was on Howard this morning and when asked what the rest of his day looks like, he replied "I am going to the comic book store and Toy Tokyo". Howard then asked what TT was and he said that "a lot of artists he likes make these toys" and he collects them. Not that surprising I guess.
interesting... wonder if him and Josh Barnett get together and talk about Japanese toys? edit: sorry... I was thinking about Joe Rogan....
Speaking of Joe Rogan, he had on Everlast last week. Towards the end of the interview he brought up collecting and mentioned he collected Bounty Hunter. As for Seth Rogan, yeah I thought it was well known he collected toys and stuff ?
I don't know anything about celebrities. Only what I learn on Stern, hence my surprise at this revelation.
I would have been more impressed if he said on Stern: "I collect japanese sofubi or kaiju"! Any hipster can collect "artists".
I'd say, since it's more exclusive and lesser known and there's a more aggressive "you don't belong here" attitude from collectors, sofubi is the "hipster" of toys more then "art toys" are. I wouldn't be surprised if he found his way to some of these figures. I found them via Medicom and S7 magazine and now Medicom does exclusives of a lot of them.
God, it's apparent from this statement that you don't really know anything about vinyl toys. You obviously don't belong here, so why don't you just beat it, okay?!
I dunno, just a word, who cares? You know your 2 Headed Bemons have beards and only listen to bands you haven't heard of. Cmon, how many people do any of you know outside of this board KNOW what this crap is? BUT in many instances those same people can say "oh like K1d R0bot stuff?" I know plenty. So then I gotta say "It's just something you never heard of." I might as well blast some "indie rock" and adjust my too-tight shirt and stroke my beard (none of which I actually have) and just say "Meh....you wouldn't know, you've never heard of it I'm suuuure." Why is hipster even a dirty word? sniff sniff
In interviews (complex magazine) and such he has mentioned that he is a big collector of all of kaws's toys and such. kaws knows that Seth is a big fan so he signed his new book when Seth bought it. Knowing toytokyo, they have many kaws related figures.
Joe Rogan or Everlast? I know that Everlast has a HUGE collection and I think someone posted some pics here ahile back.
agreed. while it is impressive, the kaws stuff is all that really catches my eye. and very little at that, because i'm not all that crazy about kaws to begin with. and everlast is the dude from house of pain.
Missy every time you hear this song played somewhere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9Q0jPyrja0 Imagine the guy in the Celtics basketball jersey jumping around in that toy room. (go 30 seconds in if you're impatient)
Hipsters be damned, but why all the hate on for facial hair. Don't make me start an "I love my beard" thread
Check out this link for some more pics from Everlast's toy/art collection. http://butchersblocktv.com/2009/10/03/los/
