Thanks for digging those photos out Moog, as they aren't something I had seen before. While I think I have preference for the resin Shedorah, I certainly think those Marmit versions are well done and have been executed well. Hey, no saying I can't have enough she-smoggy love to go around. Though actually, personally, I much prefer the original artwork shown there - presumably by Liz. Not sure if that is standalone inspiration or might form the header for the figures, but I dig it.

Not to further derail, but just to clarify my earlier comments and bring some focus back to the main topic of this thread - I like @happiness bastard's version because it homages a classic '50s mermaid figurine aesthetic* , in 'alluring' siren pin-up pose that has been mimicked much subsequently. I just love it because it reminds me very much of cheesy souvenir figurines or the wonderful Mold-a-Rama machine toys (does anyone else remember that awesome subscription project years back?)
    * or so I would have believed, but darned if I can't find it now

Need to be careful what I post here, as venturing into NSFW territory, but this is the sort of thing I meant, in pose only (though really not at all the item, sadly)

Though of course the arms down version has also been used in a similar way,
These ones at least capture what I was trying to go on about above, even if I could not find the version of it I was looking for.

And I feel like the Marmit toy, while also very excellently rendered in its own right, is going for a somewhat different look, and has more modern sofubi renderings in it (and is very Hedorah-y).

In any case, both are cool, and I am happy to see the concept re-envisioned, but would also like to keep the credit and appreciation/discussion for this thread to the original Shedorah topic.

This is actually what he was going for. I still have 2 of the originals.

    Hey there folks!
I happened upon this thread recently and I thought I could add a little clarity to the topic ^_^
I am the sculptor of the Marmit Shedorah. (Hi, I'm Liz) When I started on the sculpt, I was unaware of the preexisting Shedorah. I thought I was being clever adding an "S" in front of Hedorah, lol. I love drawing monster ladies, so I thought it was a cute idea and just went with it.
The sitting poses do appear similar. I sculpted her this way to make an easier one part mold. I imagine it was the same for the other artist ;)
