probably going to get flack for this- made in china, digitally sculpted toys produced in a soft vinyl style. not true japanese soft vinyl

around 11 inches tall. head, arms, and waist are articulated.

i think these feel great in hand, thick walls, joints are slightly different than sofvi, with a sort of plug/funnel hybrid. vinyl has some give, and it isnt super squishy like some other chinese toys that ive felt.

i know this isnt pure bred japanese soft vinyl, but im happy to put out a large scale toy that closely resembles my style

    Looking good, Michael!
I think as long as you are forthcoming with production details like this, that most Skullbrainers will not mind. Do they have names?

Admittedly, I find Japanese vinyl greater in quality over the Chinese vinyl, both in thickness and textural feel . But Japanese or not, these are fuckin' great. I say congrats to you for putting out some greatly designed and scaled toys, regardless. I dig it.

Said it on IG earlier, these look great. Glad to hear the differences and that the quality is still there. I think these will be well received as they are a great adaptation of your style into toy form(just like slimebat).

I'd like to hear more about the digital sculpt to actual product process if you don't mind.

I like the body. The head on the left is pretty neat too. Put the lobster claw arm on that head on the left and I'd buy one.

I don't see any reason for anyone to give you grief about these unless they are priced astronomically high.

From the photo alone and looking at the sheen/colour of the vinyl, these would sit nicely next to my M1Go flesh blanks. Also hearing that the vinyl pours are nice and thick only reinforces that idea.

Unlike some other chinese productions it looks like they took special care of cleaning up the joints, smoothing out the "fingerprint" style layering that you get with 3D printing. As long as it's evident that the production has the goal of producing the best quality product in mind then it doesn't matter where it is produced. It's just a common thing with China that they tend to rush production and don't care about giving the customer the best product. These thankfully are a rare example of care and respect for the artist's work being a top priority.

Most of all, the original design is super strong! This is a kick-ass toy!!

Michael you are weird as fuck and have always marched to your own beat. I love these freaks because they are reminiscent of your art. It doesn't seem like you've ever had the mindset to make profit but have done these as a labor of love. Congrats..

Nothing wrong with Made in China, as long as you're forthright with that information! I personally think these guys are pretty darn neat, and they do look like they've been cleaned up unlike a certain other 3D print to vinyl sculpt we've been ragging on lately.

These are totally great Michael, I have to echo what Bryce said. It just screams your style, and isn't like anything else out there at all - which is high enough praise in the 'current' toy market. But moreso, they are just rad figures. I couldn't care less where they actually come from provided the quality is there, and from these test pulls and what you've said, it sure sounds like it is. Stoked to see you have something you love and created made into vinyl, your style is wonderful and fun. Excited to see some painted up versions of these, but I know you are no doubt just as happy to have the prototypes, as it has never been about 'marketing' your art in the slightest. Wonderful to see another passion project from a great SBer reach fruition.

thanks for the kind words everyone, im glad that this project shows that of passion and not cash grabbing.
id love to answer any questions to the best of my ability, for now how are some more images!

here is an early 3d rendering done by the team in china, it basically was just a lot of back and forth from my designs and their renders and switching things up until we were happy

here is the fine tuned 3-d print, with different head and the lobster arm.

im not sure how we will be selling these, if each toy will come with a different head and arm to switch out, or if they will be separate releases all together.

last time i spoke with the team, i think these will be retailing around 85-90$ depending on final production costs, but im not sure if that is final or not! i dont want these to cost an arm and a leg

heres another picture i posted on instagram, the draculobster design comes from my instagram icon, a character that ive been drawing for a long while. heres the toy next to a sticker that i never produced

The only question I have, if I may, is, what prompted Chinese production over Japanese?

I'm very much lookin' forward to painted versions, as these blanks look pretty incredible.

The company approached me to work with them, so it was a chance to push the limits without putting any capital into it up front. It was also a really fast turn around, we went from design to prototype in a little under 3 months.

I've got plans for Japanese production soon, but I'm just taking things one project at a time. Got a keshi dude in the works too

Fantastic and detailed answer. Not a knock on anyone else that's produced in China whatsoever, but I like that it wasn't a decision based on cost effectiveness, but rather that a company went out of their way to express interest. It may be preemptive, but I already see this as a homerun.

If a figure looks this good unpainted, its gonna be great painted. Like other people have already said, the toy retains your style very well. They look very different to a lot of other stuff out there at the moment, they grabbed my attention immediately!

Damn dude. Actually getting a figure of that quality done through a Chinese factory must'nt be easy! It looks great, the size is excellent and I'm hoping this means that the price point is excellent as well! I may have to chat with you so I can pick up a few pointers, myself!

I think in general is a good piece, I really like the way it looks the flesh color.
Although I prefer the traditional way as the Sofubi is made,, I think we should also be open to new things.

Congrats, look very cool. No care at all about them being Chinese, but thanks for being upfront. I'm tired of toys that are tagged #Japanesevinyl or things like that when they are made in China.

I super dig these. I'd be interested in seeing the joints as I'm not sure what you mean by a plug/funnel hybrid. Will you be putting out blanks as well as painted ones?
