Those are awesome! I had to laugh at the Darth Vader one, truly bizarre!

They kinda remind me of the horror cards made by Top Trumps in the early 80's. They were sweet :)

I read on someone's blog that Rafa Toro didn't make these (he actually responded and said it was true) but they are scans from his own collection of cards. My next question would be does any super internet sleuth here know who originally made them?

Yep, I got that too. He collected them and completed the set in the 80's and just thought they were worth sharing with everyone. I wish I knew who made em, I'd start looking for some myself.

Re: Rafa Toro's homemade monster trading cards

more info on these cards I've found:

It appears to be called Diabolical Monster (Spain 1987) here's what I got (cut n paste style from google translator):

    Diabolical monster (1987)

This is a mysterious collection that I always had to fly behind the ear. It appears that the collection of "Monsters diabolical" was the year 1987, although it appears there was a reissue in 1990. It was composed of 80 cards, of which one of them, specifically the number 31, scavenging, it was virtually impossible to achieve, at least, I never saw it. The stickers were not on a normal, like all collections, but a kind of large bag staples where only 1 appeared chromium.

If successfully completed the entire album, you could redeem for a T-shirt in the series "V, visitors" or a wrist watch of those who became the Transformers robot in the year 87 (although it seems, to everyone gave one thing, I listened to redeem up by video game machines or rubber puppets) and a hall of dolls Madelman 2050 at 90 (as I read somewhere).

The collection continues to be mysterious, because it appears in some autonomous communities, the album was folio size with only about 20 stickers, and also circulating the rumor that had stickers circulars, including that there were three different collections.
I imagine that given the difficulty of completing this collection, few would be able to redeem the album ... Also imagine that some people would not be much work to discard such a gem (I would have done, because the total, and what it could buy another).
The stickers in this collection seemed blatantly plagiarized stamps and other characters from previous collections of stickers, comics, movies and all parties they could. To highlight the "grace" they do with chromium from "Dragon Taurus" which is the Demon of the film The Night of the devil (Curse of the demon, 1957, Jacques Tourneur), the "galactic Robot" which is Darth Vader chorrenado blood, or "extraterrestrial" nothing more and nothing less than the beloved ET also appear as characters: The Phantom of the Opera, Man fly, Doctor Jekyll, Creature of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Werewolf, and so on.

As curious information, with 12 stickers as a puzzle, it formed a sort of poster where to put "Monsters diabolical collection of strange beings."

To have it as a rarity, is curious, but was too blatant plagiarism, thus, creativity in this case, I see zero. As note that the album "Other Worlds" made a dent in them ...!

And even more to finish the slaughter: I have in my possession a deck of cards called "Super Monsters," the editorial Deck Milan where characters are drawn directly from "Monsters diabolical". The letters appear professional and are year 1988. Is it bought the rights to which they released "Monsters diabolical" to edit one of those beings in the deck? Or perhaps were the same, they decided to make the card game just after the collection of stickers? Of course, all are mysteries, which surrounds this collection ...

Re: Rafa Toro's homemade monster trading cards

I've already contacted an old friend who lives in Spain to ask around. He was like "WTF? Monster Trading cards from the 80's?" He is spanish though and lives in Barcelona so maybe he will come through, but I doubt it. It was fun just trying to find info on them. Google is probably the worst search engine ever...I found more info on it by using the image search to links

These are seriously fucked up (in a great way); but I'm really wondering about the size. They look more like stamps or stickers than baseball-size cards, which would fit in with the "album" description. Regardless, most of these would make amazing t-shirts, especially if the colors could be reproduced well. Thanks for the link!

I know this topic is now 3 years old but I recently started looking for these again, no luck what so ever. I did discover other cards worth sharing:

This is a card set that comes with a nice box called Super Monstruous (late 80's):

I recently bought this lot of Horror Parade stickers by AVA American from the 70's on ebay:

apparently they peel and go in this book to tell a story:

I absolutely love that Super Monstruous set. Did you actually land that Lixx, or just discovered it? Those AVA stickers are killer too. I wish they would bring back awesome trading cards/stickers like these again.

No no ultra, I wish I could find one! I saw it awhile back while searching for Monstruos Diabolicos.

Come to think of it, I wonder if any of those illustrations from either set were licensed to begin with? They look pretty old even for 1987. It's been practically 25 years since they came out- could anyone just bootleg them at this point? I feel they need to see the light of day here in the states.
