I kinda dig em, they look like Bandai special editions to me. I'm a sucker for glitter though.

Sorry to bring my critiquing over here, but I can’t help but think that he looks like he’s holding in a fart with that stance.

Yeah, it does have sort of a "Hans and Franz" bodybuilder stance. I liked the Legendary Godzilla design, more the 2014 than the 2019 one, and I've always wondered what a vintage-leaning take on it would look like, but this is a miss for me on several levels. If anything it makes me wonder what an M1GO version would look like.

I dig the model itself. Masami Yamada is one of the best Godzilla sculptors around. The colors on these appear a little off to me, though I do have some clear glitter/lamé toys that look great in person but are not very photogenic so perhaps the images aren't doing them justice. I think the price is too high for a 25cm figure and an edition size of 200—that's fairly large in the realm of sofubi. On that note there's nothing to indicate that these are being produced in Japan (simply advertised as "soft vinyl" material). Japanese show exclusive one-day license figures made in smaller numbers can be purchased on Y!JA for less.

Yeah, now that you mention it, no mention of being made in Japan or the word "sofubi," so I'm guessing they're doing it in China.

Had a chance to spend time with Spiral Toy a few months back. Excellent people who deserve nothing but success, imo.

As mentioned these were sculpted by Masami Yamada. They're also being produced by the Marmit factory.

I'm paraphrasing, but the idea behind the line is having the the best sculptors / painters / producers in the industry create these toys. Some of the stuff they've got cooking sounds awesome.

Also, they were kind enough to gift a set of paint masters to our group, for what I understand will eventually be a convention exclusive colorway.

Not sure how to get imgur to show directly on mobile, but here's a few pictures.

We were also given a header card along with it that has the legalese which states they're made in Japan, sculpted by Yamada-san, and paint mastered and produced by Kazumitsu Takamatsu (which I understand is the Marmit factory). Not sure if they want that out there so I won't post a picture of that (header art is by Matt Frank).

If it is made in Japan, it's surprising that they're not using that information on the web site to help nudge that figure into peoples' shopping carts.

Indeed... it's definitely a selling point for many collectors and I'd be surprised if it deterred anyone. If they are being made in China (or wherever else) it wouldn't be that which discouraged me from buying one but paying the price they're asking in combination with the fact.
