It's also only 12 episodes and the story is great so go watch it!

As a random shoutout (sort of related to the above), I have been watching a little of Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san (ガイコツ書店員本田さん Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san) which is also available on Crunchyroll. It is pretty interesting and funny, and might appeal for folks here for it's general relationship to geek culture and obsessive otaku. It is very Japanese I think, so much of it is over my head (and maybe others) but anyone who has spent hours perusing the wonders of Japanese bookstores can probably appreciate what a challenge it must be, and even just as a general reflection on what it is like for anyone who has worked in a sales/service-oriented sort of industry can relate to many aspects I am sure. I have to say I laughed at (and agreed with) the American comics comparison. :) It's made up of very short episodes, so something to enjoy when you have a few minutes spare.

I absolutely fell in love with Gridman even though I wasn't expecting much from it. The fact that it found an amazing balance of modern design and old school kaiju feel was a big bonus. One of the first kaiju that showed up absolutely took a coloring nod from old sofubi with a flesh base and blue spray-coloring, and in one seen if you look there is a Sunguts sofubi in the background. Trigger did a great job making an anime 'for the kids' with Tsuburaya's hand in the tokusatsu background. I really liked the series and would welcome a second season but it doesn't absolutely need one at the same time.

PicoPico apparently liked one of the later kaiju and sculpted it after watching. Hopefully he can get the license to produce it because I would purchase it as soon as it's available. The Nendoroid of Akane Shinjo was announced and it will come with a variety of her clay Kaiju to scale with her, so I guess I'll be purchasing one...

And I'm also a big fan of Honda-San, Ultrakaiju. It's wholesome and really funny and oh man the style is great.

Edit: It was interesting that Ultraman R/B and Gridman had their finales a day apart from each other. Gridman was a better show overall. With Gridman apparently being a hit in Japan and the Ultraman manga anime adaptation coming next year I'm wondering if we will see more Tsuburaya anime in the future.
