I remember when I started looking at vintage, the standard Bullmark Ghostron was like a $100 toy on a really good day.

 

Yeah, even with the price hikes lately, I haven't seen the green one selling for more than 15,000 at the most. I think that seller is smoking something. (Something like marijuana.)

 

I think they are just listing ridiculous prices because they don't really want to sell the toys. Maybe they just want to entertain some offers and refuse them. I am enjoying seeing some rare toys and sealed Bullmark kaiju though.

 

This seemed very strong given Mandarake sold one still in the bag for 190k last year:

 

Enterprise Neronga from August 2025, 136k JPY.

 

And another Enterprise Neronga from July 2025.

 

Bullmark Hawaii King Ghidorah seemed very strong, selling at 100k, given it had broken horns, and the listing mentioned it might be resprayed.

This topic came up elsewhere along with some potential issues with Google Translate in regard to this listing. I would recommend running the below sentence alone through a different translator such as ChatGPT, DeepL or just Google Translate on its own without the adjoining sentences from the auction listing. The results are of interest:

Now, as a comparison, run the entire auction text listing through ChatGPT or DeepL and see how it compares to Google Translate.

 

Oh, nice catch! I was relying on the Buyee translation, which removed the negation. When I put in the single sentence, it says not repainted. I wonder how many foreign bidders would have noticed that? Maybe most, since it doesn't seem to have hurt the price.

The market still appears to be escalating on most vintage Toho characters, especially the rare variant examples. Before the recent overall increase of interest in vintage collecting, I think we would have seen the broken horns keep this one much lower. The paints look to be in decent condition even though the photos are brightly lit and kind of washed out. It might come down to personal preference as there is some variance to the amount of silver originally or remaining on these export spray versions. Other factors to note would be no other visible cracks or inking on this example. At the end of the day, it is still a rare toy to see when looking at the number of examples seen per year.

 

@The Collector Here is another example from earlier this morning. It looks like it may be a flesh vinyl KG with a large hole in the neck and ink on feet went for 72k yen + VAT. The color tone is a bit difficult from the photos, but that would be the correct spray style. Same story here.

 

Oh nice. I missed this one. I agree, it looks like a flesh variant where the saturation has been turned up in the pictures.

 

Bandai Silver Kamen Shine Seijin Alien selling for 114k seems very strong.
