Thats an amazing trio. Like steve said id love to see better photos of them opened. I simply cant believe that price though. Those blow molds are the cheapest possible toys to collect. Most of the time when I find them the fees are more that the toy.

If only someone hadn't taken these cheap, obscure toys and made them into expensive soh-foo-bee art pieces...

    Hmmm well.......

I think you might see another of these remade if all can go as hoped.

Mr. Sato of Target Earth did a sculpt of the Namegonlike creature from this very set.......

The clay mould was shown a few years ago.......

Those 2 pics are from 2014 and are not completed aka they demonstrate a work in progress. But even so, this creature gets my vote for certain.

I have slobbered on myself looking at the vintage ones but that is to my knowledge the only sealed example to have ever surfaced. It's from 1970

Header card is the stuff of dreams! I am sure that was what pushed the price up so high. I would imagine Mr. Medicom himself adopted this set.

Heh, couldn't you say that about half this hobby? ;)

I don't know much about blow molds, but aren't they usually bootlegs of popular stuff like Ultraman, Spectreman or Godzilla etc?
Would those three be considered quite unusual?

Since this generated so much interest, I will post the rest of the photos from the auction (I can post more when it arrives):

Damn Myles you won this auction? Wow! Yes please post bigger pics of the header/toys when it arrives. Are you keeping it sealed (I would)?

Crazy hallmark! I saw it before on another vintage era toy but just can not place it at the moment. Anyone else seen that mark before? Looks like it might have been opened and resealed at some point too, going on the additional staple holes.

Yeah, I am going to keep my eye out for that mark, probably some interesting history there. As you've said John, it does look like this might've been opened at one point (albeit probably long ago as well), just theorising, but maybe to dry out some of the evident water damage you can see on the header. See, things like this almost make me happy, because, what with the re-seal holes, and the header/card damage in need of potential straightening, I could fully justify opening this package up and imbibing in its many wondrous delights! (Dropping 2500$ on it on the other hand, slightly more difficult to explain. I'll leave that up to crazy ballers like Myles. ;) )

I agree, it's an incredible piece of artwork, and I would love to know more about the history and origins of this set.

The header card is the best. Don't stone me, but to be honest, I like the header card better than the figs (don't get me wrong, the figs are nice too). Makes you shudder to think that when these were produced, some Mom probably bought them for less than $5 for thier kid!
p.s. I showed the auction to my sis-in-law (who knows zilch about kaiju and is from Korea), she says it's "silly" to pay that much for "ugly doll"! and, she still can't understand why I collect these toys:)

p.p.s. yes, that logo caught my eye as well! Is that a dog on the left, and two birds on the right? One bird looks like he/she/it is kicking the dog's jaw?

No where near as expensive as the latest postings, but super cute!

Does anyone know anything about this trike and manufacturer? Love the fact that they made a purple hippo, and those teeth are so much fun! BTW, I could not spot the tear near the front wheel?

    I tried OCR on it but its a bit low-res . . .
There are a few characters wrong here and there. I tried a few times, these are the best attempts:

Thanks Moog! My interpretation of the above then, Ultra-savings box = a reference to the 'discount' nature of these cheap toys, in conjunction with the three figures together (savings!), package. While the second line refers to the articulation of the toys, i.e. movable at the heads and arms. The third segment could refer to either the imaginative play possibilities with the figures themselves (e.g. all kinds of wild monster adventures possible), but might also be referring to something else I was wondering about these toys already, and that is - due to their really bizarre and non-uniform sculpting/details, but similarity in construction and style, it could be that the parts were meant to be [potentially] interchanged between the three of them, to allow the very lucky child to create even more amazing mashups of pachi wonder.

I believe "savings box" means these are banks and that "ultra" is a cash-in on the Ultraman franchise as you see lots of pachi toys with "ultra" on the header. The second and third lines refer to the articulation of the arms and neck and that they can be switched around.
    That's my take.

    @Mark K

I was thinking coin banks too, but i couldn't see any slots on the back of the figures. Of course a lot of cheaper banks have an area indicated where you cut the slots yourself, so its still a possibility.

That's a good point Mark, and one which makes sense. I think that these are fairly small, but actually I suppose that does reflect the other bank premiums used in Japan (which I have often been surprised to see in person just how small they are), and it would sort of explain the 'bulky' lower proportion of these guys. Probably is a 'cut-your-own' style, especially considering the thinness of the poly plastic. The 'Ultra' is without a doubt a sly riff to grab that extra attention, not that any savvy kids couldn't immediately see the connection and draw of these guys.

^^ A tiny wonder... there is a reissue of it out there, also can be hard to find I think. I was hoping to add a Pachi Getter robo to my little gang but these guys just went bananas..

Loved watching Getter Robo G when I was a kid. Those are nice. But wow on the price. Scott, is it the same winner for all of them?

Different buyers ... to be able to throw 1K at 3 Pachi minis would be swell!

The strange it's see it in the original package.
    Went for: 242,000 yen
Note: For some reason it seems to me that the cards are not the original and can be a reprint.
