Hey, guys. My sincerest apologies if this is inappropriate as a thread, or to post in general, but I felt it was important enough. So I'll just copy and paste my Instagram post to provide the info: View this post on Instagram I've legitimately lost count of how many times people have asked me to do prints, so it's FINALLY happening. In conjunction with @shirahamatoy and #ToWriteLoveOnHerArms, I will be releasing a run of 25 prints through @lulubell_toys. Each print is 11x17 with a one inch border, priced at $15, to be released next Saturday(September 24th). ALL proceeds will be donated to the We'll See You Tomorrow campaign, nothing is coming back to me. I was clinically diagnosed with manic depression at 16, though I believe it really started at 12, and I made my first attempt on my life at age 13. I've lost loved ones to suicide and my friends have lost loved ones to suicide. This hits so close to home, and I couldn't be happier or more thankful for @TiredChildren's efforts, as well as his and Shirahama's blessing in making these physically exist. Hopefully this is something that people can get behind and support, as I've been overly hesitant to print and sell any of my photos. However, this is important. *You* are important. This cause is important. Reach out. Listen. Be there. Take care of yourselves and each other. #SuicidePreventionMonth #TWLOHA #ShirahamaToy #Kumon #Kaiju #Sofubi #TOYS
Oh man, this is a great idea!!! You are definitely one of the best sofubi photographers, and I'd be honored to have one of your prints on my wall! Keep up posted!
Thank you both very much. I'm honestly still so, so nervous about doing this, as I've been heavily hesitant on making prints, past for the artists themselves, even more so selling them. The idea of doing this fully for donation alongside James' campaign seemed like the only appropriate venture in physically printing any of my photos.
this is such a great idea and a noble cause. Robert, you sharing your story was super brave... and you are way to modest! Your photography is top notch and you should be proud to distribute it to us toy nerds. Doing so this way is just so awesome, but I hope these aren't the last prints you let out into the wild.
Thank you, Adam. Seldom do I express much about my personal life or the inner workings of my head, but when it's something this major I think it's somewhat important to put out a certain degree of understanding and perspective. I have a hard time adequately putting it into words, and I often babble or try to sound smarter than I am. Loss is something I feel is universally relatable across all walks and personalities. Depression and suicide affects so many people, and with the workings and outreach of organizations such as James', hope and help gets restored for so many.
Really cool idea for so many reasons. I will try to get one for sure but I think 25 will probably go very quickly. I hope this is the first of many more to come.
Robert that photo is gorgeous like all your photos. You literally made my own day a little better just seeing this. Thank you
I was honestly very weary of even 25 ', I thought it was way too high a production number. The response has been extremely heartwarming, and very overwhelming. I'm all smiles that this being taken so positively. My nerves will be wracked until next Saturday for sure.
It's honestly pretty brilliant. Taking a toy we love and giving us a new way to enjoy it at an affordable price while making us all feel good about where the money is going and knowing the toy artist is supporting the idea is awesome. Plus the fact that it's perfectly seasonal. It's win win win all the way around. Looking forward to the xmas print you should be doing next!
can't wait to try for one of these. don't own a single kumon but this photograph and the cause makes this insanely desirable. it will look lovely next to the izumo, draculazer and ummikko originals
What time is this happening? Need to sneak out and try to grab one tomorrow so knowing what time would help a lot.
The best of luck in this project xSuicide Squadx, besides having the opportunity to acquire a beautiful print, with this you are supporting a noble cause.
Quick update: prints have officially landed, and will be shipped out Monday! I'm honestly so excited for these to get everyone. Thank you everyone here that had purchased one, shared, commented, and for overall allowing me to speak on the boards with this. And thank you to Dennis and James for their blessing in allowing me to take part in this donating process. I'm floored.
