I'm guess it's made it back before the Fall. WHO just declared a pandemic...time to bring back the masks boys!
It is technically a pandemic, because it is a new strain that has spread across borders. However it is not a pandemic in the "Oh fuck it's a pandemic!" sense.
So is anyone else sick of _______(fill in blank here) whatever news source you use reporting on this? I can't go anywhere without hearing "H1N1 OMG OMG OMG" Are all the media outlets being paid top dollar to spread panic or what? Seems you always have to keep American minds on something big brother needs to protect them from. I think it's a big crock of shit personally. Normal flu.
I find it pretty annoying. I get hit with a lot from people about because: - I have a baby - I'm getting over a cold - I will be working in the health care field shortly I friggin cough and hear "oh did you see a doctor?!" WTF?! NO! The only reason it concerns me in the SLIGHTEST is because of the baby, even then, I have common sense and don't go having her lick the floor of Wal-Mart so I'm not too scared. Everyone at my job too. It's pretty frustrating. I just usually reply with "Well I didn't turn into a pig on the last full moon so I think I'm good." I'm going to kill myself from listening to all this misinformation before swine flu kills me.
Today I saw Fox news (on yahoo) saying over use of sanitizer is a concern now because of the ethanol in it. They're afraid it will poison kids! OK parenting 101 number one hot tip: be an actual parent, watch your kids and teach them common sense. I swear this country has turned into over protective, over zealous idiotic morons, egged on by fear mongering powers that be. Common sense no longer dictates any actions in people.
As a new parent I get a lot of shit like that. Weird germaphobes going on about how I'm nuts for all sorts of crap. Being over sanitary can be just as nuts as not being sanitary at all. Being over protective is just as weird as not being protective at all. People feel like you have to be on the extreme of one side or the other for EVERYTHING, it's weird. Whatever happened to being grey? Finding a happy balance? Having common sense and questioning all sides of everything, than going back and questioning them again? I think a lot of people just wanna be told what to do so they're not accountable and can go to some source in case of an argument . No one wants their own voice anymore. They want TV, the FCC and the government to raise their kids.
I don't trust any of them. I'm not sure there's any REAL news out there. They're all "owned" and I've found equal amount of lies from all of them. It's always that Obi Wan type "from a certain point of view" bullshit from all of them. All crap. All controlled by someone/s with an agenda/side pay/sponsors.
OH DAMN! Back on track here, some girl in my office has it, everyone just found out and is FUH-REAKING! I feel a little bad for licking her keyboard earlier, but I feel I'm safe.
I agree with BD, I don't trust any news source anymore. I always look for who benefits from everything being reported. In the end it's always 99.9% of the time about money and who stands to make the most.
Licking of keyboards doesn't bother me, its all the people in my office who don't wash their hands in the bathroom.
Biggest pet peeve of mine. We also all utilize public computers for data and I run to the sink after touching the keyboards. Seriously, you have a professional job, wash your hands after doing number 2 (and number 1...just making a point)
Actually my biggest pet peeve is fake handwashers, its even worse than not washing your hands, its the "I know the social norm would be to wash my hands so I will pantomime and/or just barely run the water to make you think I have partaken in said norm." Man up and just don't wash them if you aren't going to, that way I know you are a filthy swine, as opposed to a weak willed filthy swine trying to disguise itself.
BloodDrinker, after reading your 10:43 post I get the impression that people around you don't see you as a generally healthy person. We now have anti-bacterial lotion dispensers throughout the building, most of them outside the bathrooms. Right when you walk in, in front of the elevators, there's one on either side. We share the building with the TSA, if anyone around here is going to get it first, they will.
Look, I only lick keyboards (chair seats or door knobs) to gain whoever was touching it lasts knowledge WITHOUT have to eat them. I use hand sanitzer on my tounge first, so it's pretty clean.
"fake handwashers" haha ! My kid had the flu over the weekend, most likely swine flu as its not time for the regular season and there's an outbreak of it locally. After a few days of fever, she was fine. I stopped my keyboard licking habit by putting hot sauce on them.
all this talk of flooding emergency rooms is crazy. my son had the super flu about 2 weeks ago, and spent 4 nights in the hospital. place was pretty much empty aside from the muffled cough i could hear from waaaaaay on the other end of the corridor. i was expecting nothing short of woodstock in there when we went in the way they talk it up....
