I got my first Beast Fight sofubi on Friday. I really like them. They're in the thick kind of rubbery sort of vinyl realm:
It is kind of a shame that the legs aren't painted the same color as the arms on the bird and the lion. It is like they stopped trying when it came to the legs. Otherwise I like them. I hope they make the turtle in sofubi.
^^^ The paint is pretty terrible altogether, they should have left them blank if they were going to half-ass it so obviously. Not being tiny and not having weapons sort of kills it for me in the first place anyway.
I would love a blank shark. They remind me of the material those Vinyl Pokemon toys were made of. I would buy some of those, horrible paint apps have a certain charm to them, plus they're meant to be bashed and smashed by little kids, whats not to like?
The eagle especially as it has solid wings for some reason haha ( it does not stand on its own easily with arms down)
Looks like dokuroking got some good scores. I saw them the other day and was thinking of picking them up. They are a score at around 800-900 yen each but the ones at Kiddy Land had shocking paint application and really bad QC. I'll keep my eye out for a good paint job though.
If they are under 1k then I'll just drop by the first toy store I see on my next trip to Jpn and pick them up. The more I look at the shark the more I want one and at that price, It cant be beat.
HLJ had them for 640Y and I'm glad I didn't spend more then that. Lower quality then Bandai's usual small Godzilla or Ultraman stuff. Kinda feels like a bath toy, if you take my meaning? Arms aren't glued on well either (two piece arms, the shoulder, which rotates, then the lower arm is glued in). Charming though! Just don't pay much for them.
good looking out! Yeah without a doubt these were not made to be pretty so much as durable hahaha but fun either way
Bath toy was what I was thinking! or some dog's chew toys Still want them. It is interesting though, looking over Dokurokings pics (Thanks for posting those, DK!), that so much work was put into the smaller, original figures, but that many facets of these 3 seem like a "let's just get it done already" rush job. Very curious as to why, especially with only 3 figures
From the look of things, this line looks to be done? Anyone finding info on new stuff? I'm still hooked on the minifigures, and there were a few prototypes shown that we don't have (cheeta, pig).
Admittedly, I haven't been following this line at all since the first couple waves dropped (the minifigs...not the vinyls). I wonder how strong the line is doing with kids in Japan. Did they ever make that anime to go with the toys? LRG is probably a good place to lurk to get the latest dirt, I guess...
Based solely on the Beast Saga website, they're still going in Japan. They just released a nice new clear booster set of the shark, crocodile and killer whale characters.
I haven't seen anything about more vinyls but from what I understand yes the figures are still going well. There is also an anime to go along with them now that I believe has aired up to episode 17 or so. I've been using HLJ now as nanite suggested and although they seem to offer one of the best prices they are also a little bit slow in receiving the items. I think there are also gashapon versions that have or are due to come out but I haven't seen any in person yet. I think the manga in Shonen Jump is still going too.
All good news. So I guess the next question is whether Hasbro will be importing them (toys and cartoon) here...
If they ever do we'd likely see a limited part of the line and the figures would be missing some of the paint applications. For anyone who is interested un-subtitled episodes of the show are up on youtube.
The cartoon is cheesy goodness. Its very much meant to sell toys, and isn't ashamed of it. I'd be pleased with some of the other designs in sofubi. I wish I could have found the Gashapon: http://battlebeasts.blogspot.com/2013/0 ... neral.html
