I will not be making these threads a regular thing but last week with Cory and this week with Dan Willett the Marsham Toy podcast really focused on the things we collect here which was almost never the case before and might not happen again.

This episode was really informative. The history of the tiny company itself is pretty interesting. The honesty about how in the beginning they had issues with mismanaging projects and not communicating with people as fast as they should was pretty refreshing. The desire to improve constantly explains why their toys get better and better I think. It's cool how they lean towards working with up and coming or even unknown artists instead of the most famous and well established artists who have no trouble getting stuff made already. For the second week in a row we get lots of information about the actual process behind making toys. The way they made Skinner's toy with classic slush mold liquid vinyl parts and tiny pvc parts that had to be cast in soft silicone is just crazy. Almost as crazy as a 3 year waiting list! Fun listen overall and it makes me glad I collect Unbox stuff and happy I get to work with them as well.

The Glow Show exhibits should be fantastic. Cool that one will actually be here in the states this month.

Love Unbox, wish I could make it to that show. They are really churning out a lot of great stuff recently. If anyone is going to that one in San Antonio, let me know because I need a mule!

@DanUnbox cares a lot about quality control & doing right by their artists and collectors . Although things started off a little rough while finding their footing (some of y’all will remember that review of mine a few years ago), that’s like any start up; Unbox has been ever evolving and since become a company that any artist would be lucky to work with. Where most companies will make it clear what they can and cannot do, Unbox won’t say that they cannot until first putting everything into trying to make it work. They want to execute the artist’s vision as true as possible (which has also allowed for a great variety of interesting projects) That is a rare trait these days. I would love the opportunity to work with them and hope to make it happen eventually.
