anyone else watching The Last of Us on hbo? As a longtime fan of the games I’m enjoying it so far (two episodes in) it’s pretty faithful and the performances by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey and Anna Torv had been spot on. So far, so good!
I haven't played the game, but the first episode seemed like an opening campaign of a game....digging it so far.
A show with Mushroom peeoples trying to turn regular peeples into more mushroom peeples. I'm loving it so much. I didn't know of, or play the game (as it's not my jam). But this show feels like a scary version of my Malba comic, or updated Matango. What's not to love about that? The only thing I don't like about this is, knowing it's based off a game, The Last Of Us feels a little "walk throughee".
I can see that… I think/hope that is just a byproduct of setting the stage of the overall story in the first two episodes. There’s lots of stuff to come that I’m greatly looking forward to see how they translate it to the series.
If you haven't played the game but curious about the source material there's content on youtube. You just have to look for either complete playthroughs or the last of us game movie. Only two games have ever made me cry and it's the Last of Us 1 and Gears of War 3 as I was always Dom to Nate's Marcus. Most games to movie or series seem to fail or fall short of expectations for me as a gamer. The closest I think a game to movie that didn't disappoint so badly was Silent Hill 1. It got the vibe correctly IMO but that's about it. I have high hopes for The Last of Us as the studio is very involved and this is their baby. So here's hoping for a great series. -Maddie (Totally ignoring the existence of HALO Silver Timeline by Paramount+)
Watched both yesterday. Into it, and I never played the games. It's also changing my opinion on the kid. Was not a fan of her as Lyanna Mormont.
I’m in the process of convincing my parents to watch it. That’s really been my job, I find something cool, they don’t think they’ll like it because “insert reason here”, and once they watch it, they like it. It’s a battle every time. Really excited about it though, I just hope they stick to the script for the most part.
Excited for this one. I’ve been putting it off for a sec. I enjoy the reviews I’m reading. Also, I’m with Nate, the game is a masterpiece. I’ll have to catch up this weekend.
I asked my daughter about this. She is a big horror fan and a gamer and feels like the game is something very special and compelling . She told me it would be too scary for me. I'm gonna go watch my YouTubes of udon restaurants now.
Wow. HBO has another one. Spoiler Something along the lines of Don't worry, the fence will kill the rest of them.
Can we get a whole Bill and Frank series? Loved this episode so, so much. Never played the game but not sure how they can top this one
episode 3 was really something else. It was quite different than the game, but I’m not complaining. I’m sure if you’ve read up, Bill and Frank are in the game and their relationship to one another is the same; but the events are much different. It was a nice a moment of humanity in a story that, if it stays faithful to the source… will tackle some rough stuff. Neil Druckman has always stated that the theme of the first game has always been love. This episode did a great job expanding on the game.
I really loved the third episode. It was WAY different than the first two. I thought it was genius though, it’s still the same global pandemic, but survived through differently. It also showed that despite all of the horrible things that have happened, the human spirit just doesn’t quit.
Just got through the 3 episodes. Took a minute. Always wondering what’s wrong with me when starting a show that is so dark… I like HIMYM and Adventure Time… Anyway, it’s great and I will definitely most probably finally start the game now.
