Nice! They should make a VCD Basquiat so that I could reenact this: I know Medicom made a Basquiat before but a VCD one would be nice.
Cool I hope they get them at Warhol museum gift shop, cause I can use my member discount, I'd get the nomaru version (normal)
"I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're so beautiful. Everything's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic." well now you are buddy ohh the toys he would make if alive today...
On the fence, haven't digested this enough to know how I feel. Will this be vacuum formed like those Disney toys?
I'm in! The designs remind me as if Andy Warhol were to be a character on old MTV's Daria. Hahaha. Especially that hair sculpt. I dig, I dig!
please tell me that was supposed to be in a sarcastic tone of voice... *shakes head at the state of youth today*
They could have chosen different colors. Or is there some specific picture he did that used the same colors as the Fairy Obama?
vs who knows why medicom chose those colors. red, white and blue were obviously political choices for fairey, but to call red, blue, purple and yellow a " fairey obama colorway" is just silly in my opinion. if it were, the i'd expect to see four colors in the face as opposed to two.
"I could never tell if that song ['Andy Warhol' by David Bowie] was pro-me or anti-me." - Andy Warhol I like the sixties Andy head more than the eighties Andy head. He was happier then.
Nice point, Dean! I'll go with the Andy that signed off on the Velvet Underground and operated the camera himself. Probably not going to bite, but I'm liking 60s Andy, too!
Operated the silkscreens himself too. And had the gorgeous Edie Sedgwick hanging on his arm before she ruined herself. After Solanis shot him, nothing was quite the same. Nevertheless, if I could have hung out with him at Studio 54 during that era, I woulda... I know this is off-topic but as a fun fact ... when the original Campbell's Soup Can paintings were up for sale in their gallery show, they were inexpensive, and none of them sold during the show's duration. Kinda like how when I was a kid I my brother and I blew up now-"vintage" Bullmarks with firecrackers. Who can see the future value of things "Pop?"
Wouldn't go to the extent of actually buying one but I like this, especially the silkscreen colour version (that yellow highlight on the profile is a really nice touch).
Not a Warhol fan, and not a fan of this. But it's not really his fault, it's photoshops. To me most Warhol's look like bad freshman projects thrown together quickly with a crappy photoshop filter. Again not his fault, I'm sure his process was once intensive and time consuming before the computer.
I'm pretty sure that the colours come from a specific Warhol silkscreen or print, I seem to remember something similar. Fairley (as many other artists) wouldn't even exist without Warhol.
I want to really like these but they're just to nice. Andy was never that pretty. Except for maybe here...
If it was much softer sofubi I would get this for the body and take the head off...slap something else on.
