A new cartoon for Cartoon Network. What you think, kinda hard to tell from the trailer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWrh1axP ... r_embedded ...and toys, not great but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRv7UEei ... re=related
Hmmm... We shall see... I don't like a lot of the cartoon remakes that are out there. But I'll still watch it before I make a full decision.
I think I'll like this remake cartoon. But where's Panthro? I don't like the new line of toys, but I did like the remake of Tigra.
I kinda thought the same thing initially but the animation is done by studio 4C, (a legit Japanese studio). I dont think its going to be anything genius, but im open to giving it a shot I guess.
Wasn't the original in a sort of anime style?...and isn't anime just a generic term Japanese people use for cartoons in general because it is short for animation?
Mm maybe, but I recall as a child, a distinct similar look to many popular cartoons at that time. And I would have never classified them as being anime like, but at that time, especially in kids programming, anime hadn't blown up in the states, so I wouldn't have been familiar with the look. And yes anime is a pretty broad term, I just can't think of a better way to classify the style.
The title sequence to the original cartoon was animated by some pretty serious Japanese animators who are now at Ghibli. What the opening to the original- the animation in it is amazing- much better ( technically) than any of the animation in the actual episodes.
yeah, that's who I was looking for. he was awesome. growing up, you always try to find a character that you relate to on some level (like a "which one would I be" thing) and panthro being the "black" thundercat, was the true star of the show to me. plus I just thought he looked sweet and knew how to fix everything--and he had nunchuks. It's kind of like how Chinese viewers were more interested in Kato in the Green Hornet show. It's too bad panthro is not in the new show this time around--or at least it looks that way. I don't know if I'll watch the new stuff though. the original was fun, but I was just a kid then.
"I'm crushing your head." "I'm only this big. Okay?" "Shoot me. I bet I can catch one of your arrows with just my thumb and forefinger." "Look, I just took out my eyeball. Isn't that creepy." "There is about this much chance of that live action movie being worth watching."
WHAT!?? Panthro is black!???? I thought he was Mexican!! That's who I related to as well!! Nah!! Just kidding! But I did like him the most. Dunno why... he was kind of butch, tough, fix-it-all guy. And he had that awesome ride (what's the name?). Actually I saw some pics of the new Panthro toy somewhere, I think he'll be around but probably with a less important role. He looks older too.
panthro is a made-up catman character, but his looks and voice puts an idea in your head, right? It's weird, but that's what it is--and it got kids like me watching. no biggie. just yappin'.
the 4" looks awesome. love the magnet gimmick! the "collector" series is kind of dumb. it annoys me when toys are made for collectors, or for the purpose of displaying. at least with action figures.
I would have compared it more to Voltron than to He-Man. I can't really say, regarding G.I. Joe, because I never watched it.
