What a fun thread. Sanjeev, your Bullmark MechaG looks rad as hell. What a killer piece to see outdoors! It is great to see all the photos here. I finally caught a few moments in the sunlight today in the rainy NW:
Those are wonderful Rei, especially the last one. Dodongo mini is such a great toy, he has a lovely little fun expression, I kind of adore his blown out proportions, and he really is an adventurous scamp; as highlighted so well by this series. Thanks for posting 'em man!
Very nice REI. So does Dodongo work at the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers? I think I recognize the castle logo.
Maybe he does and I don't know! This particular castle is close to the flood wall here on the James River. I didn't know it's the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers symbol!
Yep! Then that's the USACE. They are constantly building things and maintaining things (flood walls are typical), as well as tearing things down (dredging harbors, etc...) http://www.usace.army.mil/ Dodongo must be moonlighting as an engineer
That's quite a cool fella you picked up Rei. I am afraid I don't recognise the character (though he seems right at home there), is he wearing some kind of ref's shirt?
Cheers for the quick answers fellas! Rei, so nice to see you have a set of these guys. They are all quite a lot of fun, and it is interesting how some of them have articulation. Cool stuff amigo.
A dang stunner Charlie! Such lovely, bright colours still, a really nice pickup. And great setting for her too! (I sort of wish a modern company would issue some tiny Peanuts as omakes or minis at some point to go alongside these gals)
yeah, the bright sunlight almost made the paints look metallic. and I agree, if only m1go made the twins as a mini set, now that would be pretty sweet!
Not exactly to scale, but there's Marmit's PB Shobijin: Or use these Iwakura bumps on a log for placeholders: @chimmychazz @ultrakaiju
View this post on Instagram also: can anyone shed some light on the marusan/bullmark minya...? I know the original marusan version was smaller in size than the bullmark. this one is the bullmark version of the sculpt, but with marusan stamps on the feet. I know eventually the foot stamps were redone with the bullmark logo, but I guess this was an older version before they redid them. that all being said... did marusan decide to re-tool the sculpt and it just never was released until bullmark took over, or is there something else?
you know what, it must be the Shimada Toy logo... seeing how I just quickly looked at his feet and noticed it wasn't the bullmark stamp, and my brain must've gone on auto-pilot because I was thrown off by the description that CT has for the bullmark minya: "Minya was one of the first figures Bullmark released in 1969. The figure is a reissue of the Marusan version, but there are numerous differences, the most immediate being in the eyes, which are much more crisply done and detailed than on the Marusan. The Marusan was available in both green and red colors. Many of the earliest Bullmark figures were available with either a Marusan or Bullmark stamp on the foot. The ones with the Marusan stamp are probably the earliest issuings." http://clubtokyo.org/listings/itemListingRpt.php?catID=1&subCatID=12&contentID=682 Either way, thanks for clearing that up @chimply.kaiju ! Also to further elaborate on this:
Yeah, so just to clarify, does this have the Shimada 'chick' stamp, the 'circle' SAN logo, and the normal Bullmark, or what combination of both? Enquiring minds need to know! * and, have you measured the exact size, Charlie? I have read about the difference in heights, but I don't think I have ever seen a side-by-side pic of this particular fella (that I can remember) to know how much of a noticeable difference it is.
Thanks Charlie, that's fantastic! And obviously, though I forgot to explicitly say it in my last post, congratulations on getting such a lovely vintage toy. He really is great, I love the deep red vinyl, but especially with those dark blue sprays yours has; a very nice example. It is wonderful to have a toy with the early mark too. Pretty stellar snag for any collection!
