Whoa - these are all incredible, but the pop-up books are outstanding. They look like they are in fantastic shape for their age. My kids love pop ups, but the mechanics inevitably wind up torn and non working. Sorry if I missed it, but what year/s are these from?
Thanks leadster, yeah the V3 one I have is almost new. I was pretty surprised when I got it. The V3 one is from 1973 and the Mirroman one is around 1971.
This Denjin Zaboga book came from a friend in Hawaii. This one was actually made for the foreign market and is in English
I can't thank you guys enough for posting pics of these AMAZING books! I'm still in awe and need to find some way to track some down ASAP! Please post more pics if you can!
Resurrecting this thread, I got a couple new books recently. Kamen Rider manga version pop-up by Banso
^Thanks for posting that Jonathan. I don't collect pop up books but it's always nice to see the artwork put into the books/headers from the 70's. It's a style not often replicated these days. I just noticed Leafman hanging upside down from the tree in the second photo (hence the leaves).
Ninja Arashi pop-up. There is another kamen rider one and then the barom one book im still missing from the Banso set ( at least I think thats all).
And yet another fantastic one Jonathan. I can't believe how great a shape each of these are in. The pop-ups are so crisp and the colours amazing. Nothing this cool from my childhood would have ever survived in that condition. And look at those action scenes! Who cares what the story is. Just beautiful.
Here's my Bansho Gatchaman Pop-up. I know there's at least one other Gatchaman book out there - I recently lost out on it on YJA .
Very cool! Thanks for adding to the thread, I was starting to think I was the only one that collected these . I have an ultraman one on the way.
Hey thanks guys. I finally broke down and bought a new camera with an actual lens. Still trial and error but pretty happy so far with how its turning out.
Wow, these books are all spectacular ! I will have to track some down in the future. Thanks for all of the gorgeous pics I was wondering if you could give a high end/ low end price range....just so I know what i'm getting into here.
Thanks! They are actually really cheap. Low end... ¥500, high end.....¥4000 just because one was still sealed dead-stock. No one in japan seems to give a shit about these.
Pop-up books are so fragile . . . its wonderful to see these vintage ones in such good condition. They all look so beautiful. Great thread . . . !!
