I like APC and am wearing a stinky pair of Julian Red, Cali Silvers right now, they are rad. M-65 with liner in the winter is my favorite!
But it says made in italy But seriously, I pay for the cut and the fit, nothing else is like it for me personally, 2 or 3 a year and im all good.
Hey, Diesel use crappy facrtories now, but up to a few years ago they were making their stuff in Italy - I have some great Italian Diesel jeans! And Skylar mentions Pogue's special jeans - I remember those - thye were the ones he posted about 2 years ago that cost $500. I remember being stunned at the time. Found the link: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic. ... ight=denim Jeans prices arre crazy now, and I used to think Diesel was mad. I spotted Evisu jeans in Puma for under $200, starting at $129 actually. I was shocked, but on checking I see they are made in Turkey or somewhere - not the usual place (Italy for Evisu right?) My favorite jeans right now cost me $34.99 from DNA on Sunset - and they fit great - yes, they are Levis chick jeans. I had a few questions about them, like what Levi's cut are those - and some people are into them until I say they are girls jeans - screw that - THEY ROCK! For work I like my Diesels, Tag and True Religions - but mostly stuff I got in sales. SOme of my favorites are some Italian made Diesel black jeans that have an awesome cut that were part of a crazy storewide 70% off sale in 1998. I got a couiple of pairs for $30 each - wish I had bought more AND larger sizes too. All those Astro burgers have made me into teh larger man I am today!!!
Aha! I thought I remembered a thread like that. Didn't know it was Glenn, though. That thread was before many of us met each other.
I'm going to display my naivete, here....you guys are fucking with me, right? MONTHS without washing? I wash mine after every few wears AT MOST (granted, I only paid $65 for mine). I do believe my wife would kick me to the curb if I went months between jean washings...
If you think that's crazy check out one of the washing instructions that came with my A.P.C. jeans: "Let your jeans get dirty for as long as possible, go swimming in the ocean wearing your jeans, rub your jeans with dry sand, and repeat several times. Rinse in fresh (not salt) water and let dry in the sun."
I remember those too - I guess a lot of people were impressed by those Hawaiian sugar cane jeans or whatever they were.. And you never actually had them?
So the Made in Italy tag, and even the green, white and red lines stitched in the outside waist are false?
So...what a difference a few months make. I'm spending a little more on quality, proper fit jeans, and it's crazy how much better they look and feel. I'm not to raw denim (nor will I ever, probably...I can't deal with jeans bleeding on to my sneakers), and while I still wash them, it's not nearly as frequently, in cold water with very little soap, inside out, and NO dryer. It's amazing how much better they feel and look.
Custo-made jeans feel much more better than RTW, no matter how expensive or branded they are. Body curves are just different from the rest of us. $100+ for a pair of custom fit jeans reasonable enough?
i buy expensive jeans, but only one pair a year at the most. i wear them so much that by the time the year's up its time for a new pair anyway. last pair i got were mavi premium's which were $245 AUS ($210 US or so). i bought some diesel zathan's years ago which were the most expensive and only wore them a few times, they sucked. next pair will be some nudie slim jim/kim's if i can get them.
I find it much easier to justify spending big money on clothes than on toys. Having said that I usually, however, just wear 511s since I'm kind of unsure about what to buy (or where to buy) when it comes to raw jeans.
FACT: we neither need expensive toys nor expensive jeans to survive. theres no reason to slam one when you do the other haha. I love both. But havent had a nice pair of jeans in awhile. Now I KNOW some of you are sneakerheads. that deserves it own thread I think though.
