Recent interweb wanderings threw up this blast from the past . . .

Four colourways dropped back in 2006. Created by Philip Ramirez and made by Suspect Toys.

Not interested in whether anyone thinks it sucks or is the greatest thing since NNN, more curious about the history and background of it.

Any OG's or anyone still around who have any info?

Getting small volume stuff manufactured in China in 2006 seems kinda ballsy!

DKE may have wholesaled the Hunchy figure, but I doubt Dov produced it.

I remember buying the full color version with the die cut backing card at Toy Tokyo way back when.

I think Ramos and RFSO organized it. The blog posts are all gone, but a google cashed image has the following snippet of text from the old RFSO blog: "I am proud to present the first toy exclusive available from SKULLBRAIN! This is a brand new toy from a brand new company called SUSPECT TOYS, ..."

I always thought this would’ve been a great companion to the Obake Dog, specifically the morbid Charlie Brown/Snoopy thing between the two. It would also fit nicely with the BxH monster sets, but offset pretty hard ‘cause it’s not monotone.

Edit: Apparently there is a mono Hunchy. I’d only ever seen this version, and I think a green(ish?) one.

Monotone, black, Full colour (the greenish one) and this Skullbrain version. I got them all someplace but had completely forgotten about ‘em until this showed up on my screen!

@Anti Social Andy Very cool! I always deterred myself from grabbin’ these ‘cause I vaguely remember them only being about 4” tall? Seemed rather small to me, but I just might have to bite the bullet!

Thank you, Bryce. These are still just as awesome as the first time I’d seen ‘em. The more I look at these photos in the thread, the more I’m convincing myself to go ahead and grab a couple.

I could have sworn there a small ad or very small article in one of the super7 magazines. I'll look through them online today.
