Are we at the worst moment of the financial crisis or the worst is coming soon ? There are some shops closing down here. Some retail clothing listed company bankrupt, some toy shops are moving from ground floor to 2nd floor coz of cheaper rent, some toy shops are crazy selling the toys like RAH, SIC at least 70% off. But the dead stock still piled up to the ceiling.
Nobody knows how bad it's going to get (or not), but I would install that bomb/machete package next to your gas tank in preparation for that Road Warrior future, just in case. ;p
Haha. Very comforting! Kinda reminds me of the joke I've heard a few times in the past few week: Q: What is the best (financial) positon to be in right now? A: Fetal
I just completed a purchase at Kaiju-Taro: 1 U.S. Dollar = 97.7238 Japanese Yen Ouch. Less than a Yen.
You might want to read some financial publications instead of asking these questions on a toy-based forum.
yeah i don't get this dude. most of his posts are always asking about finances, money etc... and warren buffet. wtf. some money fetish.
You know why this question is ridiculous? Not because it's a bit troll-ish, but because the financial mess the U.S. is in right now affects everyone everywhere. And when you grasp the basics, it's not hard to understand: The pyramid scheme of giving loans to people who could not pay it off finally collapsed and literally everybody was reamed in the process thanks to deregulation that allowed this mess to happen. This kind of economics trickled down on all of us. You know what's scary to me? This is all happening during an election and during the holiday season. Even though this holiday season is looking to be a bear sales-wise for everyone, I don't think you'll notice anyone closing up shop before January unless they are really hard-up for cash. My prediction is come January 2009 you'll notice a lot of places closing up after making whatever cash they could make from the brief spurt of sales during the holidays. Any my feeling is places that just have a questionable retail presence will be the first to go. Like, down in my part of Brooklyn there's a huge restaurant row on Smith Street. Some places are good. Others are pure "me too!" cash-in rip-offs. Those folks are going to close shop. And say goodbye to some of the ridiculous boutiques we have in NYC. Either smaller space for them or close up shop completely. And FWIW, expect to find bargains on eBay. Not so much on Yahoo! Japan thanks to the Yen going below the dollar. Oy vey!
