Here's the deal: I made the huge mistake of going to the ROXY on the fabulous Sunset Strip here in LA on Saturday evening to buy tickets for a show from the the box office. I ended up waiting for an hour amongst a group of mainly underage girls, plus a few of their male opposites, who were waiting to see some guy called Mickey Avalon who was playing that night. Well I think I 'm pretty up on music, but I hadn't heard of this guy. Anyway, the girls ranged from 12 (maybe 11) to about 17 - all rich, white and mostly totally fucked up. Most had extremely skimpy clothes on, and it was low 60's (cold here), and were covered in puuppy fat or ultra heroin thin, and clutching wads of dollars. A few were obvioulsy high, and some 12 yr old drug deals were going on in the alley next door. Seriously, some of the outfits were such a paedophiles wet dream...it was SCAREY!!!! 12 yr olds dressed in rap video booty hugging hotpants and high heeled boots...the works! Anyway, I go to look up who this guy is on the net, and I listen to his website songs (they are all about sex, ass and titties) and find his site doesn't have many pics of him. No wonder...he is a herpes ridden ugly mofo who for some reason is covered in underage girls...it's GROSS! Check out this link from LA party scene photog cobrasnake: http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=6744822 This is so weird, suddenly I feel old, and totally not down with the kids on this one. This ugly guy is willingly sharing his herpes with pretty underage party girls...it is so weird I had to share the experience and see what the relatively sane world of Japanese vinyl enthusiasts think? The other weird thing is he is affilliated with RVCA, who I thought were a relatively cool skate/art lable. Maybe they are going for shock tactics. I don't have kids, and I have a pretty liberal outlook, but man, if my kids were going to a Mickey Avalon show I'd be freaking out. Anyway, they wouldn't sell me a ticket for the show I was after in the end, but I spoke to a few AMPED and crazy rich 12 yr old party head kids, and had a unique, albeit unsettling experience.
Hah! Yeah, there's some seriously insanely mindless stuff going on. Even beyond Hollywood. My Girlfriend and I were unlucky enough to go to an 18 and over Dance club while we were in SF. The whole time,I was wondering if all these young kids were going out to "Get layed" or just "Be lame". Come to find out it was both. Seems all the previous generations really got creative, did art, formed bands. At least they (Or we) had good reason to destroy ourselves, we earned it. Now they just dance around sloppily like every song is about them and spread crotch rot.
i'm gonna put a lojack implant in my daughter (she's 1 and 1/2 now). what in the name of christ are people thinking?!
Snowcrash - that was the last fictional book I read - over 10 years ago! Excellent , excellent book. Neal Stephenson or someone like that?
Yeah, this guy is freaky...and even freakier that these girls are into him! I don't know what/why RVCA is hooked up with him. He played at a RVCA party a few months ago for Matt Costa's record release party. It was kinda funny at first, but then it got real old! What show were you trying to get tickets to Mutonismyfriend?
When I become dictator Cobrasnakes photos will be used as a starting point for the great cleaning of the gene pool. Strung-out, rich bored teens and young adults who want to be famous but lack any actually skill or talent. Fantastic. It is all that "If you act fabulous you are fabulous" mentality. And the dead-eyed Paris Hilton pose is getting really fucking old.
i am SO glad i had parents who gave a crap about me when i was growing up. they always wanted to know where i was, who i was with, etc. it was only after i left for school that i went apeshit. i can't preach about drugs but i can say this: at least let your body finishing growing before you start tearing it apart again. and it's not cool to act like yer cool. lol
fuck i hate money and what it does to people, especially kids. Between this and mtv's my super sweet 16 show, i think there's enough grounds for never having kids...
I hate the kids on that show... and then they have the nerve to say that the show made them look stuck up and spoiled... sheesh.
I was tryin to get tix for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Last night is next week. Has anyone here seen it? I loved the stage show, and the film was a great translation of it that actually added rather than subtracted. Donovan Leitch from Camp Freddy/Nancyboy is playong Hedwig - and I hear great things about it. By the way, this stirred an interesting set of comments from everyone. I guess no one here gets Mickey Avalon - which I actually find quite heartening.
