I'm concerned with ALL flippers, but your point concerning the average collector is a good one Joe, and extremely valid. It does seem to be happening a bit, not exactly sure why and i'm sure there will be those who can speculate on that, but that kind of behaviour sh*ts me like crazy and it is perhaps the reason why this current discussion, re. 'censorship' or what ever you wish to call it is happening!
I knew. I told a few people. SURPRISE, THEY ALREADY KNEW! Why? Because the ones who knew were obsessive freaks who check everyday. To those who didn't know, get more obsessive. It's easy. Use the search thread endlessly, I STILL DO YEARS IN. Check the same handful of websites that sell toys and have toy news about toys you're OBSESSED with everyday, multiple times. I have a full time job, school a wife and daughter and manage it all in a few short minutes. Why not publicly post? Didn't feel it was my business to make a big stink. It's easy. All of this, collecting toys, it's easy, and fun if we let it be. So chill, until the next episode. Yay-ay-aheay...........................collect toys everyday.
Flippers? Are you guys kidding? The flippers of Zollmen are mainly in Japan. Who checks the board most for toy updates for purchasing toys? Non-Japanese mostly. So, fewer people from skullbrain apply for the toy, and fewer get it = more Japanese flips. You people who objected to me posting the link are just selfish. You want to keep the knowledge to yourself, to reward yourself. And you will make any excuse to hide your selfishness. Ok. Play with your toys all by yourselves; you have earned that right. I found the link on my own. That knowledge was mine. There is no rule about posting links to things like this: if there were, for instance, almost all Joe's posts on his toy blog would be "illegal" here. This is hypocrisy in its highest form. Pulling legitimate posts like mine will help cool the transfer of information, and eventually ideas. Be careful, this is a "slippery slope" that you don't want to start down because next time YOU may not be "in the know" on that special toy. That is why I defined this attitude as toy elitism, and everyone who defends it is ultimately wrong. You want flippers? If I see this attitude again, I promise to post every hyper-rare kaiju toy link on KR FIRST with an explanation that these toys are highly sought after, especially by skullbrainers. You want flippers? I think that is doubtful on this board as compared to KR. Would that be a better thing? Hypocrites. We should support the free flow of information to other skullbrainers. Always. That is why I posted it. That, and it was in a very unusual place and was unannounced, and everyone has complained that they cannot get Zollmen for a reasonable price. What was the price here again? 7000 yen. Thank you for those who stand with me in this.
for the record, Blooddrinker makes me LOL at least once a day..However, this was the 2nd time (the first being your furry comment in the polar bear thread) haha! keep em coming! PS:
I'm tellin yer, he's Count Vlad in disguise. And he's got 600+ years of Transylvania wisdom. Plus, he always get the toy he wants...or rather toys that I want.
DYBUKKIM I agree with your last paragraph, but everything else you say comes across as a high strung freak out with threats. I don't think law was a good profession choice for your personality type, you are going to have a heart attack one day getting that worked up over such petty things. It's okay to lose a battle every now and then.
The "threat" was made to drive home a point: if anyone feels that I cannot post useful information here, there are alternatives beyond the reach of toy elite, or at least those who want to horde information. The point being, we post here for each other. Many who come here are regulars, although some are members of other boards. We should not fail to post to limit others -- this will just drive up the Japanese flips on YJA. If someone decides they do not want a toy, then most often board members will sell back on board. If I have to buy a toy, I much rather buy it from a skullbrainer than off YJA or ebay, and usually it will cost less. We should empower all members who are truly interested with as much usefull information as possible. But the choice as to WHAT INDIVIDUALS SHARE should not be the mass choice but rather the choice of each individual skullbrain poster, within reason. To me this is an important issue because I do care about this board and have seen it move more and more toward sharing less and less information. To a fan of this Zollmen sculpt, the information I gave will be critical to whether they get this toy or not. Although I have spent a great deal on Zollmen toys over YJA, I am not fond of it, and want to see more of these toys in skullbrainer hands. The more skullbrainers compete for the total toys allocated internationally, the more likely we see an increase in these toys in skullbrainer homes. Makes everyone happy to share, if you want to be fair.
Thanks for paraphrasing Dybbukim's posts Collin I wouldn't have bothered to read them and I'm fairly certain you've summed them up astutely. The reference to "a high strung freak out with threats" leads me to believe you might be really good at writing Cliff Notes. I'll just assume that was the gist and save my time.
He was doing stuff like this months ago. I don't think he altered the end price of that YJA LB Maza by advertising the auction, it sure seemed like he tried though. It was me vs Majolca (they always go high) and Majolca lost. I consider the YJA interference malicious but it was ultimately harmless. Once a douchebag always a douchebag.
If I try for the lottery and don't get the toy...oh well. That just means that money will be spent on something else I'm after. The whole flipper thing reminds me of Stalag 17. For all anyone knows, the big flippers post on here regularly and know where and how to get the toys.
Quite possibly the smartest thing I've read here all year. (and I don't mean as it applies to this particular line but to the fad/hype/cheerleading cycle in general)
I am guessing that you must be using the phrase "a few short minutes" in some kind of relative sense - like the total time that human beings have existed on Earth compared to the total time that the Earth has existed.
Nope, bookmarks. I got it all saved, takes me maybe less than 10, somtimes if I'm motivated 5. I can cover all the things I care about in that time. Now sure, I check more than once through the day, but I don't NEED to, I just do hahahaha.
REFRESHER What are the rules? Unlike many BBS sites, we expect that you are fairly adult enough to take care of yourself, so we only have a few hard fast rules: 1. Don’t be a jerk. If you are a jerk, at least be a charming jerk. 2. Flame wars suck, you will both get tossed. 3. No porn or [expletive deleted]’s. Please keep that dirty little secret to yourself. 4. If you post anything, you are inviting commentary. Therefore, accept the responses positive or negative without being a baby. 5. Stay on topic. Don’t post wanted threads in RxH, your latest custom in Secret Base, etc. 6. Rolling eyes mean sarcasm, I think… What are the unwritten rules? Ah, the plot thickens. If I tell you, then they aren’t really unwritten rules are they? They aren’t that hard to figure out if you just read and watch the board for a while, but in the meantime there are a few pointers that may help you. 1. We don’t expect new kids to know everything, but we expect you to at least put in the effort. The search function is your friend. Use it before you ask a question that has already been answered. 2. There are reasons we don’t talk about certain subjects, and there are other places to yap about that stuff. Head there for that kind of talk, don’t try and bring it here. 3. Learn what sarcasm is on the board and develop a thick skin, or you won’t like it here. 4. Selling and re-selling – this is important. You need to read the flipping thread. 5. Off-site links – remember where you are before you go posting links. Don’t poop where you eat unless you plan on eating poop. 6. Yes, everyone here is a jerk, we already know that though. 7. If you wouldn’t say it in real life, don’t say it here. 8. Don’t offer a brand new toy that was just released in trade for a really old rare toy or prepare to feel the wrath. You would think this is obvious but you would be surprised.
And to step in and add some additional stuff for clarity: 9. Please don't post auction links, it only causes problems. Let people find them on their own. 10. Please don't post lottery links, it only causes problems. Let people find them on their own. This is a subject I didn't even think about until I saw the activity on the original thread, but I now agree with the sentiment of the moderator who acted on it. Let's all move forward, m'kay?
I won't read two pages of this, but I will go with my scanned and abbreviated version from everything above, as well as my support of the mods. Don't post auction or lottery links until they are over. Otherwise you jack up people's prices that have hunted it down. If you want the toy, you should be out there looking for it. Plenty of folks who want the toy know where it is, and inviting those who have not put in the effort to find it reduces the chances of those who have put in the work. Once the auction, lottery is over, post the link, and those who missed out should be able to clue in enough to figure out how to be involved, and do the work to own the next iteration. If they aren't, either they don't really care, or maybe just don't need one. It is not about freedom of information, we aren't building nuclear reactors here, we are talking about toys. Keep it loose, and even keeled, and everyone will be fine. Just don't go poaching someone else's hunt.
