..."Toy in Jail". Its my second day in our National Penitentiary's Medium Security Compound for a documentary production--- Usugrow 1st color decided to tag along and say hi to his homies ...boy did he feel right at home! Prison guards wanted to frisk my li'l buddy as an s.o.p before getting in--but they just gave him a smile---they really dig his tattoos! Once inside...it was INK ON SKIN FEST!! The inmates were trippin' on Usugrow and thought he was REALLY cool! One of the inmates---not to be outdone---showed his own "toy"...yikes! My friend Allen was kind enough to show us his 'hood--he said my Usugrow is probably the only Japanese visitor they had in a long while, and they were honored.
dude, I would never walk up into a mothafuggin' correctional facility--as a grown ass man--with a toy. You've got big vinyl balls that rule. that figure freakin rules, too. thanks for sharing!
i cant' believe they allowed u to bring that in. i can totally see someone getting stabbed in the neck with those pen tops
wow! all that tattoo work is so awesome! i bet there are some gnarly stories associated with all of them. keep us updated!
are you filming a documentary about the prison? these photos are pretty awesome. nice tattoos too. thanks for posting.
This post rules. That place looks intense awesome photoshoot. Did you get the scoop on why some of them were there?
That's so rad, everyone in that prison from the guards to the inmates looks pretty cool about everything. Did anyone try to punk you for your Usugrow?
Thanks for appreciating guys! Vombie: Thanks man! i've got balls, but they're not made of vinyl, i can assure you Plastic H: i had fun posting these pix--docu style since this is what i do for a living--and its interesting to view pictures and read through stories at the same time. Lurker: The thought came into mind when i saw one of the inmates feeling the pointy pen top with his index finger---scary and crazy at the same time, i still have fate in these guys...much more trustworthy than most politicians. Xoco and Devilboy: Thanks a lot! Scott: They bind 24 sewing needles of the right size and dip it in cheap pen ink--this is how they do it inside. I showed them my puny tattoo, they just laughed at me...but yeah, a lot of stories behind each ink image---some are very traumatic. wthalo: thanks man. uberboy: Yes, we are filming a docu on our prison system. Its about re-integration of inmates to society when the time comes. The toy thing just came about this morning. backtrack, pennjones and wing_clipper: thanks! glad you guys liked it! Igcoldrink: Thanks man! yes it was intense, but the reason we're there is to film a documentary---the "toy photo shoot" were made during breaks. A lot of stories---most of the guys i met are murder convicts, rapists, drug pushers, and petty crime convicts too... count: hehe, one of the guards said he's been working here for 21 years and this is the only time he meet someone who tries and bring in a toy! they're so cool. one of the inmates was curious and started asking about the usugrow---i immediately grabbed the toy and safe-keep it inside my bag...
Holy shit...!!! Imagery speaking much louder than words here...!!! very nice LD...!!! thanks for making my day to day 9 to 5 misery seem so lame & trivial... I love life and feel so fortunate to have family & friends that care about my well being and for helping shape me into who I am today...!!! I vinyl collecting, movie loving & music pushing scumbag...!!!
haha---yes, they do that too in the Sampaguita Medium Security Compound Cebu penitentiary is the shit! They do Michael Jackson there and all of your favorite hits Bert
it will be aired this April 14 over GMA Network--The..(ahem)..number 1 TV network in the Philippines... Also log on to gmanews.tv a few days after that if you want to get a glimpse ---they upload portions of the documentary there. The program is I-Witness. Of course, it will be done in the local language. Im sorry MODS if i put out a shameless plug here on the boards...I dont know if this is allowed here.
HAHA! well, GMA is really number 1 Bert!!! Atleast in NCR. They (the rival network) is doing well in other parts of the country--not in the major metro cities.
